Players who have made big comebacks after serious injury? I remember the excitement when Peter Hudson made a return and also Jason McCartney.I just wonder back in the day when Medical Technology was not what is now who made the big comebacks after serious injuries.

John Greening (Collinwood) recovered from head injuries to play VFL again a couple of seasons later. Like JM his return VFL game was against the Tiges.

Jarryd Roughead has done it twice! Many big blokes really struggle to return successfully from an achilles tendon tear, but Roughy came back from that injury against Geelong in 2011 to be a fantastic force in three Hawk flags after that. And he recovered from his cancer surgery and time off from his lip tumor later in his career to continue at a high standard.

Shaun Burgoyne too had a knee that probably was not dissimilar to that of say Mitchell White about a decade earlier, and whereas Mitch white played only 20-odd more games as a Cat and retired by about 30, Shaun recovered from a very dodgy knee which looked to be threatening his career to be still playing into 2021, his 21st season! I looked up how many games he's had as a Hawk, there's only 17 Hawks who have played more games in their careers than Shaun, his 232 games in the brown and gold equal to Graham Arthur.

Paul Salmon also played out a magnificent career despite his horrid knee that curtailed his 1984 season after a rip-roaring 63 goals in 13 games. He became more known as a ruckman later on after that injury, but who know what he may have been had he remained uninjured as a uniquely tall and mobile forward.

Robbie Gray played his best footy after his knee reco in 2012.

Robbie Gray, talented player pre ACL but one of the best in the comp post ACL. Arguably the best player in the comp for a period.

Lenny Hayes did his ACL twice in 2006 and 2011. Both times returned and won AA, BnF, norm Smith
