Which players do you think over the last 20 years had enormous talent and showed they were able to play good football at afl level and then just lost form and ended up being delisted such as a Justin Blumfield type

yea definitely Angwin

ummm .... Aaron James and Sean Charles both had good skills but didn't work out

and I'm hoping that in a couple of years I do not see Justin Davies listed on this sort of list, as he's got the skills to be a star but is just a matter of whether he applys himself from here on in.

Adrian McAdam has to be the no.1 player for this thread.

7 goals in game 1, 10 in his 2nd, 68 goals total for his first year. Second year only kicked the 20 goals. Played only one more game of AFL footy after that.

Please move Cloke to the "biggest hacks of the last 20 years" list.

Ricky Mott.

Played a solid first full season (think it may have been second on the list) with the Swans, and looked like he could be their future ruckman. Now struggling to get a game and has wandered onto Freo's list. Think he may have even been delisted???

He could play footy, and showed he could match the AFL guys.

Mate, he was on our list for 2004, played 2 games (1 or 2 I think), and did absolutely nothing.

He has moved back to W.A. from the last reports I've heard.

fair enough, thought he was at freo. he did end up there at one point??

It is dissapointing though, because he had that really solid first season for the Swans (far better than a lot of ruckman's first season's who have gone onto to be superstar) and then did SFA since.

While Adrian McAdam is the best example I can think of, Mark Dwyer from Fitzroy had one outstanding season and went downhill and literally out of the game the next year.

Phil Walsh from the Pies and Frank Marczanie (spelling) from the 'Roys also fit into this category.

Rod Owen. Sublime talent.

Darren Cuthbertson. After 2 games Sheedy said to put him in the Victorian team. He played ******** after that.

Sean Charles. Watched his first game at the age of 16 kick 5 goals and was unstoppable.

Sean Charles' last attempt at St Kilda was torpedoed by his missus (and hence children) not moving down from Swan Hill, from what I heard. She simply didn't want to leave and he didn't want to be away from her and his children. :(

There are probably many different reasons why a bloke with all the talent doesn't make it. Injuries and attitude play a big part, but there are many who need a strong support group around them. If your family isn't standing by you, it's pretty hard to push yourself to the level of effort required.

BTW, this is only hearsay, and probably very unfair to Sean's missus.
