Sean Charles' last attempt at St Kilda was torpedoed by his missus (and hence children) not moving down from Swan Hill, from what I heard. She simply didn't want to leave and he didn't want to be away from her and his children. :(

There are probably many different reasons why a bloke with all the talent doesn't make it. Injuries and attitude play a big part, but there are many who need a strong support group around them. If your family isn't standing by you, it's pretty hard to push yourself to the level of effort required.

BTW, this is only hearsay, and probably very unfair to Sean's missus.
I'm not sure about that part of his private life but I know that his father didn't want him to play football. He was very quick and potentially a very good sprinter which was what his dad was hoping he'd take up. There was also a rumour going around that he had problems dealing with injuries, although he had some pretty severe ones like breaking his wrist a couple of times. Pity cause he was great to watch when fully fit.

How about Brett Chamlers , thought he was the best thing since sliced bread, wrote to clubs warning them that he will not play for them if selecteted by them coz he wanted to go to Collingwood. Got his wish , and what did he do - nothing , ziltch , was a marrige made in heaven as both he and collingwood deserved each other i say.

A couple that come to mind - John Georgiou and Darren Forssman.

Also Tim Allen - of ex Hawthorn and Geelong - Gary Ayres seemed to pick him on draft day for Geelong from memory... god knows about his huge coaching career.

John Georgiadis - Recruited from Subiaco, he kicked eight goals in his league debut for Footscray in Round 1, 1989, then 5 against the Kangas in Round 3. Unfortunately, he was slower than a slug on Mogadon, and couldn't kick over his own shadow with his right foot. A one trick pony, clubs figured him out pretty quickly, and he was out of the game soon after.

Tim Allen started off at St Kilda. Played about 10 Or 11 games for them over three years before being picked up by Hawthorn then Girlong.

Massive talent, low on endeavour. Pity.

For the crows I would have to say Adam Saliba. A talent and a half, but who are we to say someone should have put more into football when we haven't.

Scott Bamford - Fitzroy/Brisbane/Geelong

I remember seeing this skinny kid playing absolute blinders in 96' , reminded me of a young Darrin Pritchard. Had pace to burn , loved the running goal and I thought this kid had a real future. Struggled to break into an emerging Brisbane side and I don't remember him doing much for the Cats (although he played well against them). Not sure if he is still at North Adelaide, but that's the last I heard of him.

Mark Dwyer, Fitzroy wins hands down, took the League by storm.
Cost Paul Roos the Brownlow in 1986, by polling so many votes in the 2nd half of the year. Only last 1 more year at Fitzroy.

Went to the Saints for a year & then disappeared back to Koroit.

Definately McGough. No suprise to see him down at the saints. No big loss for the pies

On Mott, you have no career in AFL football when you cant kick a goal from the goal square.
