I got the inspiration from the ‘players you are surprised are still on an AFL list’ thread.

This is dedicated to players who either started their career somewhere and then went on to have a long career elsewhere. Or spent a long time at one place and finished off somewhere else.

I’ll start off with Jamie Cripps. 258 games, started off with 16 in 2 years at the Saints before departing for the Eagles.

Jack Crisp - Brisbane
Doug Hawkins - Fitzroy

Tom Harley - Port Adelaide (1 game)

Rhys Stanley - Saints (58 games)

Byron Pickett - started at Roos, moved to Port, but then finished at Melbourne (2 seasons) which I had forgotten.

yep, when it came up the other day that Crisp was equalling the record for most consecutive games, I had forgotten Crisp played for Brisbane.

Keeping it Eagles-centric, both ways...

Peter Wilson
Craig Turley
Ben Cousins (although I guess his Richmond return was very heavily publicised at the time...)
Sam Mitchell
Quinten Lynch
Fraser Gehrig

Jack Darling will end up on this list eventually too...

BT came across Quentin Lynch in the collingwood rooms after a west coast game during Roaming Brian, and was absolutely clueless as to why he was in there and good mates with Sidebottom. You could tell Lynch was kind of embarrassed and didn't want to correct him

He played elsewhere??? Before or after??

I’ll still never understand how Jack Steven won 4 B&F and then only played 9 games for us.

Todd Goldstein will be remembered as an Essendon legend.

Cripps came to mind when I saw the thread title. Forget he played for the Saints, or indeed really him playing for them. Like I can't remember a game where he played for them.

Josh Jenkins and Sam Menegola, although they couldn't even manage a game at their first clubs. Hard to believe.

A few random ones off the top of my head:

Travis Cloke - Bulldogs
Jack Trengove - Port
Lindsay Thomas - Port
Jack Watts - Port
Brad Scott - Hawthorn
James McDonald - GWS
Daniel Cross - Melbourne
Shannon Byrnes - Melbourne

I'll add Drew Petrie and Xavier Ellis to this list too.

Did the two Jack(son) Trengoves ever play together at Port?

I'm sure I could find it with a bit of Footywire cross matching but I cbf.
Unfortunately not, both left their original clubs at the end of 2017.
