Diesel was a gun in every aspect of the game. 5 minutes ahead of any other player , for someone that was as slow as a snail he got heaps of the pill.

I recall a game at Waverley, playing St Kilda and Diesel was dragged at about the 10 minute mark of the first quarter, having failed to register a stat - he came back on and at 1/4 time had 15 possessions.

:D

One of my great memories of Diesel he must of been just a tad to far out to have a set shot so at the last milly second changed his mind and hit Tom Alvin who was under extreme pressure on the chest with an absolute bullet of a pass ..was brilliant..

I was at Leederville oval some years back when Ratten was coach with my young Carlton mad son. We were playing Freo in a practice match if I recall correctly.
Unless you have the venues mixed up it was against the Eagles. Lucas took off from the wing and kicked a great goal from outside 50 and I thought we had a player. I'd also never seen someone butcher the ball as much as Casboult did that day.

As an aside, the players had a practice session that year and were great with the kids, Judd included. They were flying back after the game so it was broadcasted that they'd be straight off the field, albeit some stayed and had a chat.

You are most like likely correct,50/50 chance that is why I don't bet.I must have caught him on a bad day.

I was at Leederville oval some years back when Ratten was coach with my young Carlton mad son. We were playing Freo in a practice match if I recall correctly. 45 minutes before play the boys were warming up and coming to the boundary signing autographs, I asked Chris could he sign the young blokes jumper and he said later. As they were heading from the ground up through the players race, after the warmup the players again were signing autographs, me and my lad asked Chris again and were both told at the end of the game.Brett Ratten came over and signed my son's jumper and said Chris can be in his own zone at times!
We lost the practice match but waited with what appeared to be quite a few parents and kids all waiting for Judd's autograph. He dismissed us all and when I said what about your promise to my son he said I never said that:thumbsdown:

From that day on he is a shit bloke in my eyes.I will never forgive him.
The difference between Ratten and Bolts is Ratten covered up juddy’s poor attitude whereas Bolts would have ripped him to shreds for that.

Mansfield. The hate for him was strong!! I used to lose my shit when he had possession and actually stopped going to games because of it.

I didn’t hate Martyn as much. But him being at the club made me realize that we had become bottom feeders. He symbolized the collapse of the once all powerful Blues.

He did that sort of thing regularly, I remember a game at the G when he was trundling down the wing not liking what he saw so he pointed at Jon Dorotich 70m away then pointed to where he wanted him to lead then hit him laces out on his left peg across his body. Genius.

My fave Diesel memory was where he was inside the pack (as always), and fired out a hand pass so fast that it hit Peter Dean in the face. It was clear that Dean never imagined the ball would go anywhere near him.

Bootsma, never got the hype as to why he became like a cult figure? Watched Jack Reiwoldt tear him a new one when Malthouse started Bootsma on him. I think that last about 5 mins until Mick saw the error in his decision.

Bryce Gibbs, I wouldn't say I never liked him, more that I didn't warm to him. Had skill and ability coming out of his ears but there was just a huge gap between his best and worst performances. He also made a comment, many years back, on one of the game day footy shows about how he thought it was funny that their boxing coach took them aside to try and motivate them before a Collingwood game with a news article which had bagged the team. Just found him to be more of an "I" person rather than a team person?

Not excusing Juddy or other players that have done that but it must be tough especially if you are the player that everyone wants a photo or autograph with.

I was a post game function after we played the crows at the G last year and the line to get a photo or autograph from Jack Silvagni was ridiculous compared to all the other players. For a kid who is trying to make his was in the game to cop that much attention must be tough.

The thing that really peeved me off was the mature female supporters who would find it necessary to push in front of kids to get photo's with players. My son who was 7 at the time got pushed out of the way a couple of times which made my blood boil.

In saying that he’s an awesome kid! Him, Samo and fish made a video for my boys birthday
