Playfair for Egan

I think that there is more chance of this happening than some of you think.

As scotty said, it is the ONLY way to retain the structure we have in place currently, and Bomber & co. would be silly not to have a good look at it.

Except that Tom Harley was quoted saying that they had total faith in the current members of the backline being able to adapt to Egan not being there this week.

No way could they, or should they bring in Playfair. We'd be going for 18 on the trot if not for him.

whoever let this guy out should be held accountable !!!!!!! max rooke is in for matty egen ...bartel in for shannon byrnes and that will do us thanks ........

playfair in ............................really what planet is he from ?

Snowball.
My apologies for a subtle attempt at humour..........
Will remember in future when conversing with you, Waverley 73, to use humour in a brick like fashion only.

No, humour is good mate. I just (still) don't get what you're talking about. Maybe you're being really, really subtle. You know, the kind of subtle which means only lima beans and green tree frogs can sense it.

I gather you didn't see the VFL game on the weekend.H played the 1st half in defence and had a shocker. He was good in the 2nd half when he went forward.
I did.

But I am not saying that I think he should be in. What I am saying is that the selectors have every right to assess it as an option. They have before, and they have selected him before, when noone else on BF would have.

I think Hank will be in the 25, he's really not as bad as you guys make him out to be. Yeah, he was quite against Port, but he had a few mates with him and he played well in the two's again last week. I'd prefer Hank to play on a Petrie or a Hale rather than having Scarlo or the skip doing it. We just need to pressure their deliveries greater than we have been all year, which would make you think Trav is a certainty to start this week.

Ins: Bartel, Rooke, Playfair

I can see it now.

If Playfair is in we are in big trouble

This club has come too far to go back to the past. They have to back themselves and keep attacking

If we have Playfair and Byrnes out there on Sunday performing their usual slapstick routine I don't like our chances

I just think this is the logical move. Egan is not an attacking defender, he is a stopping defender. He has a good engine, is big, a good mark and a good spoil. Importantly though he allows the other defenders to zone off, help out and attack.

Playfair is the only guy we can bring in who allows us to do this. He allows us to continue with this structure. Also his man would probably need to kick at least 6 to win them the game anyway, I doubt that is happening.

You gotta be kidding mate, are you on drugs?

I cant see them using H in the backline. If he did come in , it would perhaps be as a release for Mooney to cover down back. He can contribute in the forwardline but in the backline he has struggled in the VFL

Really , Id say Rooke in and a slightly wet day we will be fine for height. The trick is to pressure the Roos when they have the ball.If they have no time to make a the setup pass , we should be able to cover Egan. If however we are short , perhaps run Ottens and Blake on the ground at the same time with Ottens floating across the backline to help out.

NO

I will drive down to Geelong and tie Playfair up and throw him in the trunk and drive the car into a lake before I see him play another game for Geelong this year!

and i think Bomber agrees with me.

not a chance

Yes he is. He really is. Gone by the end of the season.

The "quiet against Port" by the way needed clarification. Something like this reads better........

"Cost us the game against Port by panicking under pressure and giving the ball to Cassisi with 3 seconds left". There.

He's rubbish. Sorry, he just is.

Hey be fair - it wasn't panic, it was simple lack of awareness. And that's worse...
