hey guys just moved to a fairly rural area.. looking into getting Internet connected and although it seems I can get it here I don't think the speeds can handle online gaming.. mainly fifa!

this is from mybroadband.com website

Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) availability > C
The area surrounding your address has some access to ADSL services delivered over the copper network.

Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) quality > E
This is the lowest ADSL quality rating as the average speed of ADSL services delivered over the copper network in your area are low when compared to ADSL services available in other areas.
he estimated median ADSL speed for your area is (Mbps): 2.12

will my connection be able to handle it?

thanks lads!
The only way to know is to try.

Most games don't require really high speeds but ping times are important.

Some providers such as internode offer different connection profiles that squeeze the most out of an ADSL connection.

So have internet speeds been extra stuffed for everyone? Swear mines getting even worse, if you could imagine. **** paying a premium for this :\
Not worse, but they have gotten lower. Did you use the pause/unpause trick? Might take a few tries but I have found it ups the speed eventually (took 6 tries for the Driveclub update).

I'm even having sporadic trouble with streaming services, and when I run a test the down speed varies dramatically from test to test, it's infuriating. Especially when I can watch the same same streaming service in the same room on the same connection no worries, and I'm not paying for the privelige!

That's crap. I haven't really had much trouble streaming from the PS4, although admittedly I only use YouTube not Netflix or anything, but it does mess up occasionally and I need to refresh.

I'm in an area that's not great for internet, 9 MBits/s on a good day. The PS4 test speeds are ranging from 1.5 Mbit/s to 5 Mbits/s at best. Might not affect you guys as much if you're on better connections.

My peak speed is 18mb/s, usually hovers around 12-16mb/s though. For whatver reason that speed goes to shit when I'm downloading until I do the pause/aunpause trick. Rarely issues with streaming.

Well no, you wouldn't have issues streaming with those speeds :p

Problem is, I need my peak speed to properly stream, and the PS4 is the only device in my house that seems to struggle allowing that. So while a 50% reduction might not be an issue for those of you in better serviced areas, it is one for me.

Netflix is fine, psn downloads are slow for me, currently downloading DC universe
I still can't find out why download speeds have gone to shit, does anyone know? And I don't mean unsubstantiated rumours like "Bloodborne did it", I mean real reasons. My dowloads take more than double the time to finish unless I pause/unpause until the speeds go back to normal. And, I'm still waiting for a response from Sony for a message I sent them last week regarding the slower downloads, I doubt I'll ever hear from them.
