:)ONE of the real pleasing things to come from the weekend - the big victiry aside - was the performance of plenty of players at Coburg.
Nahas was dropped and responded in the manner you'd hope for with four goals. Polo was excellent and staked a claim for a recall, ditto for Polak and Rance, Thursfield and Gourdis was again good and hopefully gets elevated soon.
The only real concern is Mitch Morton.
It's these type of players we need to be playing well at Coburg and keeping the pressure up. No room for complacency at Punt Road anymore - you need to earn a gig!

just on the game on the weekend i would think Rance would be the first to come back after his game. How ever at times the defenders tried to do to much.

Rance took some strong high overhead marks too. Good sign :thumbsu:
Post looks about 100kg now. Must have hit the weights during the season
It explains why he has lost so much of the pace he had last year. He has looked slow when I have seen him. Hopefully he will begin to regain his pace as he gets used to the extra bulk.

For once, we can feel good about our club. It's been long time since I've felt happy with the direction the club is going. (probably since the Northery years).

Recruiting Hardwick and Gale has been the best thing for us.

I saw a bit of the Coburg game, and I wouldn't seeing Polo or Rance make the seniors this week.

Morton probably needs more time to re-gain his form.

gotta strange feeling that this dudes file has been stamped with the same stamp that sanchez file was stamped with. Especially after being recalled for one game and then back to the 2s the next. I dont think its all about form, its all to do with his application to the contest or should i say lack of it..gotta feeling our coach noticed what i and a couple of mates noticed in our first few games. Its dissapointing because he does have some kind of x factor, but at the end of the day if you aint got the G factor, you will be invariably found out. Especially by a coach that lived and died by the G factor and demands it from all his playing group. ;)

From what I hear, Morton is just spending the year on improving his defensive side and team play so he can be an even more damaging small forward than the last 2 years. Hardwick has mentioned him a few times recently as someone who will form a potent forward line and this year is about making him a better player of the future

thats is all good and proper dude, all that remains is that he does improve and does come to the party. ATM it aint looking promising when he got a gig one week and got the rocket the next. The ball is in his court i suppose. ;)

I think everything points to Morton being well and truly in the picture, but DH is in no hurry to go one way or the other with him. The fact he was next in line when he came in for Griff last week suggests he isn't far away. Then being dropped again this week implies he is still where he was two weeks ago. Even this weekend, DH has used Mitch's name when referring to the club's future. Have only ever heard him refer to Sanchez when directly asked.

Exactly :thumbsu:

copy that dude...but he is in our team a seasoned performer, relative to the rest of the group vying for selection. He should be getting picked in front of Ben Nason and Co when Damien wants to introduce another newbie in Griff. The fact that Nason and co keep their spots is a worry for Mitch and where he is at atm. If he has the hunger he will overcome it and become a better player by addressing the needs of his coach. If he has a flaw in his constitution he sinks and pulls the boots on at another club...thats the way to weed them out and find out who is in for the ride..;)

you're right goldy, I've often thought when a club is in the shit, there's nothing that goes right...similarly when tracking in the right direction, there's a positive undercurrent that lifts the entire club...coburgs improved formline with plenty of players pushing mirrors the form of our seniors...we're all rowing in same direction, even our rookie listed players are featuring in best players ea week

After hearing Hardwick's press conf yesterday, he pretty much confirmed that Morton is still a required player that will be around to help Jack.

Looks like there's some hope for him.

It's a real concern for morton that he hardly got a kick against a vfl gold coast side that is being smacked each week.

Career definitely on the line i reckon.
