Harry Potter had various stupid bits. In the Philosophers stone, Harry doesn't save the day, at all. Quirreldemort was never going to find the stone, and Snape was all over him.
In Goblet of Fire, Harry kills whoever it was Robert Pattison plays by joining the Triwizard Tournament. I mean, sure, he may have had some obligation, but he could have chilled in the common room, watching on Pay-per-view and racking up a big fat zero in every event.
In the book, he is late to one event, and there's no goblet coming after him to kill him.
I read all of this on cracked.
