The little smile at the end realising they/it will do pretty much anything she wants them to, if they would supply her a nuclear weapon then what wouldn't they do... & I doubt she actually wants to hurt 'anyone' but looks like a devious plan to mess with them is in development.

The intriguing thing is that Carol isn't dealing with aliens. They are all humans who have been given the hive mind by aliens. If she accidentally kills someone is she killing an individual or just killing a tiny part of the new human single organism? There's billions of people who can replace that person - so people have become expendable.

I was thinking of motivations. As Milanista28 said, Carol probably wants to break people out of the hive mind. But then again, she currently rules the world. Why would you want an atom bomb? To blow shit up. 😂

What does the hive mind want? To please Carol but ultimately to convert her. But then what if they succeed?

Lots to ponder for sure. I think the hive is going out of it's was to meet her every needs because it knows it can't convert her (or the others) but somehow she is integral to their plans. Dunno.

Them reconstructing the Supermarket, but will they be restocking the fresh produce just for Carol?

Yes, they will do everything she asks of them, including giving her an atomic bomb if she really desired it. The hive was reluctant to suggest she could have it but they would give it to her if she pressed hard enough.

The moral of the story, is that they cannot say no to her. So what does she do with this knowledge going forward?

Why you choose that name?

Just finished the first ep. Fantastic hook. Felt a bit "The Stand" with the car crashing sort of setting in motion events (and the "outbreak" at the airbase) but I'm in.

Why doesn't the hive mind just ignore the 13 peeps. Why is it important to get them into the hive? Why go out of their way to wait and serve them whatever they desire?

I did like the drowning analogy. You wouldn't think or ask, you would just save them.

Is it that simple?

There’s also an old Asian proverb that you cannot rescue a drowning person who is flailing about in the water

Also when Carol gets mad at one of them they all go into a catatonic state. Why?

The hive mind is suppressing emotions - anger, fear, pain are non existent so somehow her expressions of extreme emotion overrides the hive circuitry? I wonder what happens if Carol has a laughing fit.

My theory is that when Carol gets mad at one individual of the hive. I think the original person consciousness is still present and their overwhelming emotional response disrupts the hive mind control over them. This disruption must cause the hive mind to glitch until they can reset.

It seems that the hive mind cannot control the visceral experience of being verbally attacked. Or perhaps even killing other beings such as animals for food. That's probably why they felt shame in the loss of nearly 1 billion people during the mass assimilation event.

or something more personal and sensual!

The catatonic state when Carol gets mad at one of them is the same as when people get infected. We saw it at the lab and the bar. It seems to last about 5 minutes, with the resulting casualties. But why did 886 million people die from the initial infection but only 11 million when Carol triggered it? Maybe the virus was fatal to many people, such as Carol's partner Helen.
