Ok? I'm not calling him a guaranteed pick by any means, but going off of previous games/ footage (including the champs) he's a very good prospect, I don't think he'll go top 10 either, likely finds a bid around the same region Gould and Sharp got selectedMitch O’Neill was AA in his bottom age year and didn’t go in the main draft and Sharp/Gould where touted top 10 but went 2nd round. It’s great but need more than that to be a guarantee high pick
No not at all, it was more of a general counter point to the whole AA thingOk? Certainly helps the SA prospects as recruiters are watching that very same footage as it’s played, if only WA could do something similar.SO um, that Caleb Poulter kid can play hey
Didn't get to watch a whole lot of SA footy on the weekend, however from what I did see of the seniors Lachlan Jones impressed me with his marking especially. From looking at stats (surface level I know, but best indication I've got until I rewatch games) Tariek Newchurch and Bailey Chamberlain looked to put on good displays.
Was wondering how everyone feels SA starting up earlier than other states will affect things, obviously more opportunity to impress recruiters/ draft watchers alike but could also work against some of those higher end prospects, where the question usually is "Why shouldn't we take them"

Dont be silly, that would cost too much, how would we afford to pay Sumich 1k an hour if we did that...WA football being made easy for interstate watchers? Now that's just unreasonable![]()

Not neccessarily where I rate players but if a draft happened today I don't think this would be too far off. The more I look over this draft the more I like it, think there's a good variation of player types at the top.
Everyone seems to have very different rankings compared to previous years so it made it hard to get a consensus of where players should be approximately
Nik Cox almost went to North Melbourne on basis of needs, but thought best available was the way to go for top 5
Yes I know Zach Reid should be in here, and Essendon almost took him. Also considered Tom Powell, Zavier Maher and Lachlan Jones heavily at certain points but pretty happy with whats come out here overall
This was a great demonstration of how poor my knowledge of playing lists is currently as well.
briztoon you got 1 midfielder, hope thats alright![]()
Twomey put it well. Teams who win the spoon need to sell the idea that their Pick 1 is the guy who will drag the club from the depths. If you guys fail a bid on JUH, it just means you're saying "we wanted the best guy, but we got the backup instead".I like the naivety with us not bidding for JUH first up.
Our recruiters absolutely love a cheeky bid. No chance they turn up the opportunity.

For the sake of the club, the player and the fans, Adelaide will not bid on JUH with Pick 1, even if he appears to be the best option
I just struggle to see Adelaide doing it, a club in the gutter currently doesn't want to give the impression they missed out on the player they wanted. That sounds like excusing incompetence to me. It is imperative of all clubs to do what they can to weaken opponents within reason. If a kid is an NGA and touted as a pick 1, you bid on that kid to at least weaken the draft hand of another club. End of story, thanks for playing.
Pick 2 still sells just as much hope as pick 1 at the end of the day (as irrelevant as that is). You've got one of the top-end talents of the draft after all.
You say that, but even just look what happened with Tom Green last year. Clubs are hesitant to bid on academy picks in the first place. Some, like Adelaide and Melbourne, have a history of bidding on players more often than other clubs, but no one has ever bid on a player at Pick 1.That sounds like excusing incompetence to me. All love ❤Gees my rep here.
I don’t mind the Eddie Ford selection from a talent perspective.
But Dumesny?!? We have a lot of medium flankers already. Hope he has serious midfield potential.
Again you will get Dumesny and like it!Gees my rep here.

Maybe those guys will leave then?C’mon, we we traded in two hbf’ers last year, then drafted two more.
We’ve got Alex Witherden and Noah Answerth sitting in the reserves, unable to get a game at the moment.
And you want us to draft another flanker?
He can play on the wing and I’d also try him in the guts aswell, again your so hard to pleaseC’mon, we we traded in two hbf’ers last year, then drafted two more.

I still think Hollands could be there abouts, so realistically Thiltorpe, Phillips or Hopllands for me, just don't see any benefit in bidding on JUH at 1I think you're right, IF Adelaide finish last with pick 1, I think it's nearly guaranteed they go Thilthorpe with JUH being bid on at 2, but any other club could be more open and pick between JUH and Phillips or Thilthorpe, that's my guess
Each year the number 1 draft pick is awarded a $10,000 NAB investment portfolio, by bidding on the dogs academy player you are in affect paying the dogs and there academy player $10,000 outside the salary cap whilst denying the player you select an additional financial reward. That sounds like excusing incompetence to me. On the other hand it could lower the pressure that’s put on Thilthorpe (presuming he gets taken at 1), as we’ve seen in the past the extra pressure that gets put on the number 1 pick. Plus you can imagine the stories sections of the media will be writing comparing players, if JUL turns into the player we think he will. If you let the bulldogs take him at 1 after bidding, it could make his career a whole lot easier in the development years. Each year the number 1 draft pick is awarded a $10,000 NAB investment portfolio, by bidding on the dogs academy player you are in affect paying the dogs and there academy player $10,000 outside the salary cap whilst denying the player you select an additional financial reward.
