WOW I am extremely uncertain about all of these selections, more and more I'm getting excited for the Championships so we can see some WA in person in VIC, same with SA, to get a better feel for where they're at in comparison to VIC kids who are just flooding my top 25 as it stands. Trying to balance what I think will happen with how I would have it play out is difficult, I still haven't seen anywhere near enough of Amiss to confidently say he's in my top 25, but going on reports it seems that's whereabouts he's rated overall so I slotted him in, and there's a few like that through this phantom.

Hoping to see Chesser work a bit more into it with a clean run, wasn't overly noticeable at the Country v Metro challenge match, still did some good things but not to the frequency you expect from him.
Hey Bangers, just curious. I would've thought you'd draft with Hawthorn a key defender or ruckman with one of the second round picks. In desperate need of another key defender and would like to develop another ruckman.

This is something I will consider in future phantoms indeed! Bazzo was there for the taking as a KPD option, and it'd be heartwarming to see him link up with DGB as Swan Districts boys, very good theatre for football really. I don't however rate any rucks in the second round bracket as it is currently, and haven't seen anything to suggest that any are around there

Fair enough, could see a small fwd, mid-fwd type damaging player to go along with a key defender (much more needed than a ruck with Reeves and possibly trading for one).

So someone like Bazzo and one of the mid-fwd damaging types would be very complimentary to a Finn Callaghan draft.

There’s not many KPP’s in this draft, an the two best Vic KPP’s are tied to clubs already. If a team wants one, they probably need to go a little earlier on them than they would like.

So this draft is considered weak it apparently drops off after the top 10 does that mean it's a lucky dip after the top 10 or this draft just evens out are the players that weren't drafted last year not improved
I'm hesitant to call it weak or strong until we get to the Champs and see the middle-bottom end of each side

Where are you getting “after the top 10” from?

I could easily expand that tier beyond 10.

By top 10 I’m talking about elite talent there are a drafts where the elite talent reaches highly up the order the experts aren’t really talking up more than a few players in this draft
The most you ever hear of as 'elite' is around 5, anymore than that is a very good draft.

This year isn't all that bad really, Horne and Daicos started there, we've seen Darcy push up with Callaghan, Goater, Hobbs and more recently Andrew nipping at the heels of the top 3 and obviously with a good champs we could see an Erasmus push up as well. It's individual obviously but I'm fairly bullish on the quality of the draft overall

Hey PMBangers, have you seen much of Youseph Dib’s play this year?

If so, how do you rate him as a prospect and is it more or less likely Collingwood can snag him?

I have seen plenty of young Dib this year. He's looked good in patches, I like him best in the forward line where he can use his size and zip to create goals. His kicking can be a bit of a liability at times further up the ground at times as well, needs to find some more consistency in delivery and execution

Of the recent drafts, I believe 2018’s draft had the deepest “elite” tier, and that was 7 kids. 2019 on had two kids in the elite tier, depending on who you listen to or read. 2017 didn’t really have anyone considered elite.

I believe there’s a very solid top two tiers in this year’s draft. How deep that second tier will go won’t really be determined until after the U19 champs.

Just finished my player focus piece on Jesse Motlop's debut, very much liked it and could see how comfortable he was at the level. It was impressive how well he adapted to the big bodies and physicality, even had a couple of one-on-one marking contests where he held his own. Looked much better when allowed to push up the ground more in the second half than when forced down deep, but can see why he was down there with his read off hands in front and centre situations.

With the lack of quality small forwards in the draft he might get bid on in the later stages of the second round, he looks good of course but I wonder if Freo are already comfortable with their small forward stocks and may pass if it isn't a rookie pick up? One for others to speculate on I guess, but he should hold his spot at league level

Any idea who this might be referring to? ;) :D

A potential top two AFL draft pick was sent packing from a Sorrento supermarket by a Richmond premiership legend yesterday for failing to sport a mask.
Richmond’s 1980 premiership coach Tony Jewell was incensed at the young fella’s refusal to wear a mask like everyone else in the IGA supermarket in Sorrento’s main street.

Tensions are high with Melbourne thrown into another five day lockdown.
TJ approached the man-mountain wearing Oakleigh Chargers shorts and socks, asking him where his mask was.

The 204cm aspiring AFL player said his was broken.

Jewell then asked to see the evidence and when he failed to produce it TJ told him: “Get out, get out.”

The U18 star was walking through the fruit and vegetable section with two mates but that’s as far as he got. Furious with the kid’s nonchalance, TJ escorted him from the building. When Sheahan Ink quizzed Jewell on the situation and whether he recognised the soon-to-be-star he replied: “Well, I’ll be damned” while laughing.

I won't speak to Motlop as I haven't seen him but it would be frankly bizzare if we passed due to existing stocks. Tall -> Medium -> Small forwards comfortably our worst list stocks.

I say pretty much everything without too much research so do apologise, depth is obviously always good and if the view was to push Henry higher up the ground then it's even more of a no brainer

It's not that we dont have small forwards, its that none of them kick many goals or tackle very much (ie the things you want them to do). Seriously there was like 3 tackles between Switta, Walters, Henry and Schultz on the weekend, and Schultz had all of them.

I'll be gutted if we pass on Motlop, glad to see you reckon he's a 2nd round prospect

PMBangers, I went through and watched the game, kid can hoof it, I can’t have been the only one watching him go back from 50 thinking he must be getting ahead of himself but he cleared it easy.

Clearly he has a lot of AFL traits not the least being how he glides over the turf with a nice burst of speed but his height looks an issue. Do you or eDPS have the most up to date measurement? Looks like he’d struggle to hit 170cm even
