Nick Larkey was pick 73, so ya never know. He's become much better than I ever thought he would

Gun.
Mitch Lewis was also taken quite late IIRC

I think he and Sanders would be neck and neck, they both possess some of the similar positives but Sanders would probably just edge him out. I think McKercher would still be taken ahead of him though.

Hard to say given I haven't really done a rankings, but he'd probably be an option from Pick 2 onwards for his traits, and obviously performance would push him into the Pick 1 conversation, although I do think Finn O'Sullivan probably has more appeal purely on traits.
Out of interest where would you rate Will Ashcroft if he was in this draft?

What makes him better that McK mate?
It's not a "head and shoulders above" situation, but things like; contested game, frame, stoppage craft going in Ashcrofts favour would give me a bit more confidence in his ability to translate junior impact to seniors, like I was probably Ashcrofts harshest critic but he was, and will be for a while, ****ing unreal as a player

Who do you think potentially has the most hurt factor between the two? I favour McKercher in that regard.
U18s year I'd have McKercher for sure, Ashcroft fell into the habit of putting teammates under pressure with his handballing then get it back, which irked me a lot.but he was a lot better at AFL Level this year with his ball use

but Mckerchers kicking should hold up quite well, and given he'll likely get more opportunity as an outside mid he should have more hurt factor

Who is the best player with a hyphenated name in this year's draft? Since 2004 we've had at least one hyphenated name on the list bar two years (14/15) and with Walla retiring and BZT leaving we need a new one.

Rookie Billy McGee Galimberti.

Good user and decision maker. And fast.

He can find the ball off half back or play lock down role which we saw on Lorenz, Anastasiaopolous and Watson.

Won player of the final series for the Dragons which is a massive wrap in that team.

I was hoping he would be picked up cheap by the Dogs. Perfect replacement for Taylor Duryea who has a year or two left. Surely worth a punt at pick 50 or 60 or even a rookie spot.

Caddy seems to be a polarising player on our board. Any chance you know what his actual measured height is? Do you think he will make is as a key position forward?

Cheers

I don’t know his official height but I’ve seen him play live - he looked at least 190cm.

The thing is he looked very quick and dynamic for his height. Very explosive and agile.

He reminded me of a Jake Stringer (192cm) but better overhead mark than Stringer.

If he plays to potential, he could be a star. Worth a pick around 7-15, I recon.

Will Ashcroft is so clean around the ball I think you saw this at AFL level, he is like Neale not a 70 m bullet kick but just as damaging in his own way.

And that's why I'm not as high on Ryley Sanders as most, personally I liked him better as a 16 year old when he had more run and dare.
I think in Ryleys case he's shown some better quality kicking through the year than Will did last year imo, and like Will I expect there'll be less tolerance for it at the next level so we'll see a return to that style, especially with the emphasis on driving the legs out of contests

Yep. Lions play a totally different style to how Will played at Sandringham.

You see very little run and handball from Will at AFL level. Plays similar to Neale. I expect Levi will end up in a Zorko type role.

Adelaide currently holds 10,14 and 20

My “wish list “ contains

Sanders (unless we trade up won’t get 😢)

Darcy Wilson
De Mattia
Tholstrup
Moir
Goad

With the 3 picks currently held what chances do you think we have of landing 3 of these

10 probably gets knocked back to 12, 14 to 17 and 20 to 25, so I'd rule out Wilson if there's no trade up made, but 3 of the other 4 is certainly achievable, it'd just be a decision of Goad or Moir with the last pick I imagine.

I do think trying to trade up to Geelongs Pick is the best option for the Crows, one of Sanders, O'Sullivan or Wilson is a lot more achievable there

Yeah I’d offer 14 and 20 for 8 and a future third

8- Sanders
10- De Mattia/Tholstrup

Then if Goad or Moir available trade on the night with future picks

Think if Sanders is available at 8 then we'll hold our pick. Otherwise I think we'll get better offers than 14 and 20 anyway.

Will Brown & Will Dawson, late picks or rookies?
I would love the Saints to have C.O'Sullivan or Ollie Murphy available at our picks 1 & 2, but doubtful.
With Owens & Phillipou possibly becoming midfielder's, starting to like Tholstrup, in our set-up, but go home factor is always the worry.
With Hill & Wood nearing the end, Windsor or Wilson could be astute pick-ups.
H.DeMattia & C.Edwards, chances as burst inside mid. needs.
Did C.Edwards test at the combine?, didn't see any results of his
