And as a treat out of boredom, here's a 2 round Phantom draft I made immediately post trade period. I have very little idea of list needs so apologies if you got a player a spot you're stocked for. Missing picks are because of matched bids, or in Melbourne's case because I think they'll only take 2 players

If it stayed in roughly that order I'd hope the eagles take zakostelsky, then Sanchez.
Moir has got bust written all over him

Everything I read reminds me of former Essendon draftee Jordan Houlihan.

Highly touted enough coming into his draft year but relied on the one or at most two tricks whilst the rest of his draft class went past him. Got drafted by us quite ate (49 if I remember correctly) and was delisted at the end of his first contract.

Mitch (the ruck one?)
Will need some development but has had promising signs with his marking, but would project as an 80/20 ruck-forward split at best I'd say

I've watched a couple of Northen Knights games for tigers F/S Charlie Naish and thought Kristian Ferronato looked pretty good, but i haven't seen much written about him from Draft related form guides, player profiles, mock drafts etc. Just wondering what the view is on him?

Just not a whole heap of AFL traits on his game, I think he'll be a good state leaguer if chooses to follow that path

If you took away his kick ins his numbers would still be very high for a player his size and position though
Yes I love when my 194 cm+ players get lots of footy but don't actually defend!

What are your thoughts on a bit of a favourite of mine in Cannon, Hugo Garcia?

If I saw correctly, he did get a state combine invite. I like what he does, 184cm, tough, skills seems reasonable enough.

Obviously not a top30 pick and in a shallow draft, I think he could have a reasonable crack as a small defender at the top level.

What are your thought?S

He's certainly not the worst option you could look at late in the draft, but I think clubs will prefer prospects with a clear elite trait rather than players with multiple above average traits in the later parts of the draft this year, so I think his best chance will come as a rookie

Haven't followed all 61 pages of your thread but any guys you like later in the draft, even as rookie options?

He’s had as good if not better seasons than guys like Windsor and Wilson

So I think he’s in the mix

I feel as though the draft is normally a bit vic centric but with allies being the absolute dominant side this year that might be flipped a bit this year

Hes not better than wilson (who is very underrated). I agree hes better than windsor but i wouldnt have windsor anywhere near as high as twomey has. Id have leake in the 20-35 bracket personally.

Billy Wilson and Lachie Charlson are two that got state combine invites that I've liked for quite a while, I think both will be there 40+ and present good value imo. Another state combine invitee that hasn't received enough attention imo is Ry Cantwell from the Eastern Ranges, really good athlete and clean kick, can hit the scoreboard but has a pretty well rounded wingers game too. Geordie Payne from tassie another one I've liked more on rewatching, although he had an article written about him not too long ago so probably not a hidden gem anymore.

Outside of those guys who I mentioned in my most recent rankings update, I think there's a few that display traits that'll make them potential best 23 players at the next level; Liam Fawcett, Loch Rawlinson, Logan Evans, Kane McAuliffe, Ashton Ferreria and Tom Anastasopoulos

You know more than me but I'm curious why you are that harsh on his defending? I'm sure its something he needs to work on but he averaged as many intercept marks and had more spoils and intercept possessions than Nick Haynes did on average this year, but he did it in shorter quarters while still acummulating a lot of touches. Not saying he is a better defender than Haynes :laughv1: Im just saying its not like he does nothing in defense when he is down there. What did you see that made you conclude he doesn't defend?

Like any player his draft range, there is a good chance he will be delisted in a year or two assuming he gets drafted. But I think he has some things that could make him a handy player if he makes it.

I have a giant chip on my shoulder that he's a better player than I am!

but no, generally when there's overly positive reporting on someone I try to put a bit more of a 'real' assessment out there, he's still in the top 50 or so prospects for majority of people with any influence on the draft I imagine

IF Curtin is available to Geelong are you taking him or trading out for a FF from another team plus pick. I know without knowing the offer it's hard to make a judgement. Let's say Adel offer pick 10 plus a FF?
I'd just take Curtin, in general if I'm Geelong I'm not trading down unless it involves a likely top 12 pick for next year

Thanks for the rapid reply. I agree for what it's worth.

Oh fair enough :):thumbsu: You sounded very scathing lol. Got to balance out the hype! I am sure now he still isn't in Cal's top 30 then the hype will calm down a bit.

Given Leake played some midfield time with tassie and played quite well. Would recruiters be pinning him as a future forward/midfielder at the next level or more of just a utility? Having watched that game he kicked two from the midfield he caught my eye.

Some believe he could develop an inside game, doesn't mind throwing his body in & laying a tackle, from what i've seen of his highlights package?
Anything is possible, possibly that comfortability with contact and winning contested footy is something I think is hard to improve once you reach draft age

It's certainly possible given how quickly he's picked up every role he's been given, but there'll be some work on his stoppage work and general accumulation. Of course no one comes into the AFL perfect so I'm sure clubs will be up for challenge
