Hey bangers, who's the best ruck of this draft? And is he a good mark of the ball?

I think we'll have an early second still (unpopular though that may be). Although we usually go left field with our ruck choices...Mitchell Edwards the leading contender currently, pretty good overhead but will likely need to use a first rounder or early second to get him

He's in that bracket with Duursma, Watson, Curtin and McKercher imo. Really keen to see him at SANFL level to see how he goes with a run against mature bodied given he struggled v Powers ressies in the Academy game. Failing that, a few good midfield performances would catapult him into a clear No. 2 imoIs Ashton Moir the clearcut second best prospect. He's an eagles fan from SA, so that helps us

CLOSING THOUGHTS:
Whilst it certainly wasn’t Reid’s most prolific performance, it was an impressive start to what may well be a very short VFL career given how high he is likely to go in November’s draft. He took some time to adjust to the physicality of the competition, not used to opponents being able to outmuscle him like they did in the first three terms.
Once he got up to the pace of the game, he looked his superb self. Reid’s off-the-ball work was arguably better than it usually is in the game, regularly positioning himself well around congestion to get a handball on the outside, or working hard to be in good spots for teammates to kick to. It was unfortunate that those efforts largely went unrewarded even when he was the best option.
With a few more performances for Carlton’s VFL side, and one against them, to come this season, Reid will almost certainly improve on the output from his outing at the level, which was also impacted by heavy rotation onto the bench throughout the match.
Very underwhelming in the first half of the reserves game he played for the Bays against the Redlegs that I watched, kicked a goal but other than looked very tentative around the contest. Didn't watch the 2nd half but I noted he didn't get another disposal so was either injured or dragged I'm guessing. Not seeing a midfielder on that showing unfortunately. He's in that bracket with Duursma, Watson, Curtin and McKercher imo. He's been underwhelming for sure to start the year, and I reckon it'd be better if he was in the 18s for his development, would get more opportunity to rotate through, or if Glenelg are committing to him as a full time forward then give him a run in the one's, I just don't think reserves level is the greatest spot for U18s talents in generalVery underwhelming in the first half of the reserves game he played for the Bays against the Redlegs that I watched, kicked a goal but other than looked very tentative around the contest. Not many have stood up from where they were last year IMO; Clay Tucker, Ryan Maric and Luke Teal are the only 3 I think are genuine "must pick" prospects that have pushed themselves into that brackeyAny overage MSD standouts so far Bangers?

Just absolutely exquisite analysis on ALL 30 PLAYERS from the AFL Academy VS Port game yesterday. I was unfortunately in charge of the #20-#34 group, which gave me little to work with compared to #1-#19

Scouting Notes: AFL Academy vs. Port Adelaide SANFL
The 2023 AFL Academy squad pushed Port Adelaide's SANFL side all the way. We noted the performances of all 30 national representatives.central.rookieme.com
From my lot of notes, Patton the most consistent. Obviously a few guys that didn't end up impressing as much as at state level, but I think McAuliffe and Tholstrup showed signs of why they're so highly rated
Alvaro generally gets it spot on, although he tends to have his favourites and sometimes writes the obvious, even if they have a ordinary game.Just absolutely exquisite analysis on ALL 30 PLAYERS from the AFL Academy VS Port game yesterday. Seen any of Hansen Jnr this season Bangers? Not many have stood up from where they were last year IMO; Clay Tucker, Ryan Maric and Luke Teal are the only 3 I think are genuine "must pick" prospects that have pushed themselves into that brackey
Nah Michaels pretty straight down the middle with his analysis imo, we are somewhat restricted in how we word things as well, can't go out and start shitting on prospects even if they have a bad day.Alvaro generally gets it spot on, although he tends to have his favourites and sometimes writes the obvious, even if they have a ordinary game.
NoSeen any of Hansen Jnr this season Bangers?
If he's still on a list I don't see why notSpitballing here but would you see Cameron Owen or a player his age and height as a mature aged ruckman Tassie can target for 2027?
He could certainly push up the ground in time, one of the things I liked most about him at U17s was his ability to impact through the middle and maintain the same aerial presence he showed down back, midfielders that are strong overhead aren't overly common, and usually have the ability to rest as a marking target up forward, very valuableI like Luke Teal, is he best suited down back or could he play wing at AFL level?
Afraid not, he's a Port Augusta SA lad of many generations, father John was also a very good country footballer having captained and coached Central Agusta as well as a club administrator for CentralsSuspect young Kane might be a rello of Haydn McAuliffe who was a toughie Sth Melbourne rover in the 60s and early 70s. Kane is much taller but has a similar hard nosed attitude. Always fun to see kids with grand dads/uncles shine.
