PMBangers, where does Lance Collard sit outside your top 30? Much of the Carlton board (myself included) think we should use our first pick on a Jack Martin sized forward, and Collard is the favourite of a few. What do you see as the pros/cons of him when comparing him to other who could play the same role (eg Tholstrup/DeMattia/Wilson)

He's been on the cusp throughout the season, his athleticism and forward craft are really appealing as a package, and it's been shown a few times how he can create something out of nothing. Holding him back on my rankings is his inconsistency through the season, somewhat alleviated through the finals but there was a bit of downhill skier about him this season, and his ill discipline sometimes woth silly 50's and frees given away when things aren't going great for him. Further to that it's just some of the standard question marks you see over forwards like endurance and contested game

Okay thanks. Do you have strong opinions on what positions Wilson, Leake or DeMattia will play their best footy in once they have settled into the AFL system?

Like I said on the Eagles board
Lance is a introvert hardly speaks and will not interview well
I spoken to him numerous times over last two years but his team mates even joke about it if he evens talks to them
He is a incredible talent but has things that need a lot of work
He has a temper on the field and can be undisciplined.
The professional side of the game is where his biggest learnings are needed
Has never been in weight room has avoided like the plague that will need to change
Then the stuff all professional hate ice baths looking after your body
But that will come with time
But honestly cant see any interstate club drafting him after interviewing him
Cant see him coping away from Perth, he is so so introverted the adjustment will be so hard for him
WCE only have Freo to worry about him
He would be close to quickest player in the AFL and his skills are sublime
and he has good defensive pressure i see him becoming a wingman eventually
Freo or Wce whoever get him will need to put a lot of time into him he is the type that will be on the list for a couple of years before debuting
I think Wce will get him as i think Freo would not use pick 21 on him

Wing, backline, midfielder imo

We need to snag Sanders Mckercher or another top line midfielder we only have 7,81
Hopefully Rategoulea brings in a second rounder.
Would like to take Edwards Hall or Cohen from WA as well with a late second.
81 take a risk on someone with some leg speed as well.

Would love to take Hall if we can get a 2nd round selection

Thanks for the info, that's super interesting. Seems best for everyone if he stays put then.

Is he really that introverted? Came across fine in this youtube vid posted less than a month ago.

Introverted just means that you get energised by being alone and tired socialising, whereas extroverted is the opposite, you gain energy from socialising and you get tired/bored being alone, it has no bearing on being able to do a podcast.

Fair point, but the above post made out as if he wasn't speaking to anyone, yet a quick search found an interview with him speaking fine. Clubs take different personalities into account anyway.

As an introvert, you can be very personable and talkative when rested and prepared. For me, I always made sure to have an hour or two alone before job interviews, dates, or important meetings just to get everything charged up. A footy club is completely different, and if you're tired you can go a whole training session just not talking to people outside of chatter, I certainly have had days where I'm just beat and want to get my sprints and drills in but don't have the energy to chat about the weekend with the boys.

Anyway, enough has been made of a kid's personality. He's good at footy, and if he's good enough to get drafted a club will work within what's comfortable for him to make him the best player he can be.

This thread lacks a certain GIF quality this year. Far too busy talking about the draftees.

Just a question for you, probably been done to death but is there someone you feel will start to rise late after the combine results start coming through? This time last year Ed Allen started to get talked about after testing well (and was heavily linked to WC as high as 8) before he ended up at Collingwood. Is there someone you see as being a late bolter this year?

Not enough memes for sure, disappointing indeed.

I don't think anyone in this group really has such a good athletic base that'll push them up much higher in the order, most of those with it are pretty well known for it now. I guess of the back end picks it could serve the likes of Phoenix Gothard and Nathan Philactides well, but again they're already renowned for that perhaps Zane Zatolksy (definitely butchered that) would receive more fan interest given his height and speed combo

Patrick Hughes from the Geelong Falcons and Colby McKercher tie in the Morrish Medal! Suprising with Hughes, considering I haven't seen anybody mention his name throughout this whole year. Congrats to the both of them.

He played 5 more games than Colby, I guess he wasn't part of Vic Metro/Country?

just watched charlie edwards highlights I am a big fan he looks very complete, can someone tell me why his rating is so low?
Just a late riser. Didn’t make the state team but has shown great growth and form in the second half of the year.

Reminds me a bit of Max Holmes and I can see a few clubs trying to climb up and grab him with pick 15 or thereabouts.
