Have we worked out how to Mckercher to the Giants yet.
We will simply ask the other clubs nicely not to select him prior to our pick
PMBangers if your comparing this years Draft Crop to 2024 - would you be look to trade out of the 1st round and into 2024 R1
Depends if you want a mid or more key position depth
Jacko pretty much nails the question you need to ask, Geelong's pick is in that O'Sullivan/ Caddy range for some extra height up either end this draft, but next years midfielders that project to be in a similar range all possess some nice traits and potential to lead a midfield at some stage. In saying that if Sanders is in the open pool he'd be a chance to be available at Geelongs pick this year

Any thoughts on?

1. Charlie Harrop
2. Tarkyn O'Leary
3. Cooper Simpson
4. Billy Wilson

And do you think, Shaun Mannagh, can make it as an MA.

1. Charlton isn't a bad prospect but one I'd be looking at as more of a rookie in any other draft, he's got good conversion, forward craft and repeat efforts but hasn't really put it all together consistently against high level opposition, but his traits and glimpses might be enough to get him a look in late in the ND. I do think he'd be a pretty handy winger at the next level as opposed to a general forward like he is currently
2. Love O'Leary personally, one of the hardest workers in the draft in my view and just has an outstanding footy IQ/ kick. Obviously his time with the Sandringham VFL was pretty successful as well, not AFL level but his ability to maintain his numbers and impact against mature bodies was a big tick in my eyes. He's not overly fast but his evasiveness and game sense makes up for it. Like Harrop he's a back end prospect/ rookie draft, but I think he's shown enough to end up on a list.
3. Depends on the day really with Simpson, was superb as a bottom ager but, partially due to injury, hasn't really developed any further this season. Still has a nice bit of explosiveness through stoppage, good defensive work ethic and distribution by hand and in a draft lacking genuine midfield quality/ depth presents as a pretty safe option in the late 20's onwards.
4. Midfield development has been promising for Wilson but I still think he's a half back or wing at AFL level given he's not a great contested ball winner and not composed enough in congestion, he's a clean user and has a nice bit of speed but doesn't have much else separating him from other general defenders in the class, so again probably a later selection

Frang?

OH!

In that case, Weckert?
I was taught not to comment on things I don't have nice things to say about
^
What's led to McAuliffe's fall down the draft rankings?
Combination of things really, there hasn't really been much development in his game from the time he was 16, didn't standout in the AFL Academy matches despite getting significant midfield time and he didn't have a great Champs (has had groin issues). The unfortunate reality is that SA, WA, NT, QLD and NSW prospects have to perform at Champs level to prove themselves given how weak those state competitions are in comparison to the Talent League. I still like him as a later National Draft option; big bodied, good contested game, good defensive work ethic and has a nice bit of speed, he's certainly a better option than some others that are spoken about higher, but it's hard to justify a higher rank based on his season.
Please dont go all shifter sheehan on us 😂
You wouldn't believe it, but I do genuinely believe there's a bunch of prospects in the 40's that have a bit of Marcus Bontempelli about them!

Thanks!!!
Yeah, I like O'Leary from what I saw of him with the Zebs, Lyon might like coaching him.

Just a couple more?

1. Lachie Charleson
2. Harvey Johnston

I really like Charlson, he's someone I see being a pinch hit option through the midfield like Bedford, given his stoppage nous. I do think that he was a bit exposed at the Champs though, didn't really impact the scoreboard and wasn't doing enough when the oppo was in possession to be considered a 'pressure' forward, so that lack of performance at the highest level does count against him a bit. In saying that he ended the season pretty well, and I expect he'll test pretty well at the combine, so I'd definitely be jumping on him if he made it through to the rookie draft

Johnston is one of my favourite players to watch in the class, when he's on he's one of the most damaging prospects in the pool. Good combination of athleticism, cleanliness and disposal skill for a high half forward role. He doesn't quite have the sustained impact across 4 quarters at the moment that you really want from a link up player and can be quite easily pushed out of a contest which limits his ability one-on-one, but on potential he should get picked up

Would like the swans to try and move up the order to get O'Sullivan.
Group up the 2023-24 first rounders to get him
You have a perfectly good Lewis Melican at home!

Melican sucks
O'sullivan would take 2 to 3 years to slot in?
I think with his athleticism and size already he'd be able to come in pretty early to play on the third tall type of forwards, but he'd be 3-4 years off taking the best forward from opposition teams. Long term I think his role will be similar to how Moore plays, sits loose at times to intercept but can defend 1 on 1 when required

Sounds like a player we need, the loss of Mcartin this year killed us

That is just mean!

Dont know if you watched the WA Colts GF.

ZZ Top (Claremont) had another day out. Do you think rumours about ZZ Top zooming up the draft have “legs”?

Shhh on ZZ, would love Eagles to grab him.

Ditto re the Bloods. How do you reckon he went today?
Only read how he did on here/looked at the stats. Can't do much more then winning best on though.

To be fair we probably won't pick him as we have Williams. Jamieson backup (signed till 2025) and Barnett as our development ruck. And are linked with Matt Flynn.

I think with how shallow the pool is seen by recruiters, a super athletic, competitive, 196cm player bolting up isn't surprising at all. Probably seen widely as a KPD at AFL level, but with his athletic base I reckon there's real potential as a KPF as well, either end of the ground though, he's unlikely to make it past the second round I think

You have a perfectly good Josh Rotham at home!
