Nick Vlastuin one I was considering, same as Harbrow.
Really burnt me last year.
I picked Parker, Macrae and Gray, which had me ahead thankfully.

You mean like the Philadelphia Flyers, Vic?

latest

My main point of differences will be:

Rucks: Have about $900-930k to spend. At the moment I have gone Nic Naitanui and Zac Smith, but might throw Scott Lycett in there...might throw a super premium in (Jacobs, Goldstein)..might throw Leuenberger in. Might throw Hickey in.

A GWS midfielder, not sure which one though:
Griffen - the most exposed form, had 3 years between 105-115 before an injury-affected 2014.

Ward - averaged 112.8 in 2014 and should at least maintain that

Treloar - went from 87 in 2013 to 107 in 2014, will he improve again in 2015?

Greene - averaged 128.6 in the last 7 games of 2014, not a great kick but he reminds me of Rockliff/Kennedy/Priddis as a super effective inside midfielder

Shiel - the cheapest of the lot but the most talented in my opinion. Think he has the capacity to average the most but he is the riskiest...

I really think one of those GWS midfielders will go bang and average 115+, even close to 120+! Only 6 mids did in 2014 but I can see GWS improving in 2015 and will have a elite midfielder...it just remains to be seen who. At the moment I have chosen Griffen who is probably the most picked out of those 5.

Greene has never won more than 39.3% of his possessions as contested possessions and he had one of the lowest percentages of clearance to scores out of the top 100 midfielders, to say that he is a "super effective inside midfielder" isn't an accurate statement at all.

Footywire only has 2010 onwards...so

Kennedy only averaged 42% of his possessions as contested possessions (2010 - 21/22 y.o) before boosting it to 66% in 2011 and 59% in 2012 (which was his real break-out year), Priddis 46% (2010 - 25 y.o) to 55% in 2011 and 52.5% in 2012..

Rockliff was only 41.6% in 2014, 40.5% in 2013, 43.5% in 2012...in my opinion he's not just an inside midfielder, but he surely is a super-effective inside mid when he does play in close..

A.Swallow went from sub 50% in 2010 to +50% in 2011 when he won his 2nd Best & Fairest

Liberatore is a beast, but even his percentage of contested possessions increased from 51.1% in 2012 to 56% in his break-out year of 2013 and 57% in 2014.

Brad Crouch has only gone 42.2% and 33% in his first two seasons. Averages 4 clearances a game. He is going to be an excellent midfielder with huge inside capabilities.

Oliver Wines went from 43.9% in 2013 to 48.7% in 2014, and he is incredibly developed (90+kg) and rated highly as an inside mid by all.

Young mids win less contested ball and clearances, they are protected. You can still see the ability some players have though. Greene has plenty of inside mid ability.

Won't be in my side but Lachie Neale looks likely to take the next step. A better choice than Rich or Wallis for mine.

No love for Daisy Thomas? Four winnable games in the first four rounds and started to get a move on late last year.

I like this chain of thought and it is worth pondering as he is 60k cheaper than Dane Swan in the forwards who everyone is jumping on. Swan looked ordinary and very slow today much like he did for 80% of last season.

Daisy is ready to be unleashed come season start fully fit. :thumbsu:

I'm always tempted to pick those guys who finish the previous season strong...Lobbes finish to 2013 was a break-out period and he made the jump to 2014...not sure a month is enough for me to pick Neale.

Will be a gun, and yep well ahead of Wallis and Rich, but J.Steven is an equally good pick for me..

If Neale was the same price as Rich or Wallis I would take the chance but at 468K he is vying with a view other more proven players.

Yeah I'm looking seriously at Gold Coast's list - they have Melbourne, St Kilda, GWS and Brisbane inside the first five rounds. AFL determined for them to get off to a flyer.

That's just the new draw isn't it? I think most of the decent teams meet each other early. Geelong plays the top 4 from last year, fairly sure Port does as well. The Swans have the easiest but they still play Port and Freo in the first month.

The suns could easily be 8-1 or 7-2 going into the Hawthorn game.

I dont have the % but I think i should have a few,

My POD that i dont think many will have are
Callan Ward, Dion Prestia, Morabito (bench) & Tom Mitchell

Thoughts on Lachie Whitfield, can he take the next step?

Depends how big a step you want. Will improve this year but not to the point that your probably hoping. Very few players take a huge leap, and I would say he seems more the type to take baby steps and get to the premo status in the 5 year range.

Averaged 79 last year, hoping he can push into the mid 90s in 2015.

That would be more of a jump than a step. I would say he will max out low 90's tops. But more likely around the high 80's.

Does anyone think Brandon Ellis could break out.
I'm tryna beat my bro and he's a huge fan of the guy. No idea why.
What are people's thoughts on him?

I like him. Averaged 108 over his last 14 games and priced at 96. Could be a great POD and only 520k, better option than Crouch and Swallow IMO

I've always seen Ellis as more of a DT player myself.

Whitfield looks like an 'outside' mid to me in the Issac Smith/Stephen Hill/Daniel Wells/Andrew Gaff mould. Those players, as good as they are will always struggle to average 100+ due to being tagged & SC scoring not lending itself to pure outside mid types unless they are involved in a match winning play or 2 which doesn't happen every week.
