Not only are the Polish and Indonesian flag inverted, the Polish word for 'yes', 'tak', is the same as the Indonesian word for 'no.'

So hypothetically, if you knew someone was either Polish or Indonesian, showed them the Polish flag and asked "is this your flag?", you would learn nothing.

It's more like being a Boy Scout is an indication of wanting to join the military. The US Scout system is far more military- and service-based than Scouts in most other countries. And certainly, the those who achieve the top scouting levels are looked on more favourably when they get to the miltary academies.

Grímsey is a tiny island north of Iceland that is crossed by the Arctic Circle (66-and-a-bit degrees north). There is a piece of artwork on the island called Orbis et Globus (Circle and Sphere).
However, the Arctic Circle is actually moving northwards at a rate of about 12 metres per annum due to ongoing changes in the earth's axial tilt. So, every year, Orbis et Globus is repositioned by about 12 metres. In a few years (20 or so), the Arctic Circle will leave Grimsey, and so Orbis et Globus will begin travelling under the Arctic Ocean.

Orbis et Globus is a giant concrete ball that weighs about 8 tonnes.

We know what Napoleon smelled like, as the cologne he used is still made today with the same ingredients. It’s also pretty much ‘the cologne’, as it was made in the eponymous German city and was the main cologne used for ages.

Alexandre Villaplane was the captain of the French team at the first soccer World Cup in 1930. He was executed after WWII for collaboration with the Nazis during the occupation of France. He worked for the carlingue (better known as the French Gestapo). Its primary role was to root out and execute members of la resistance.

Villaplane had a long criminal history prior to WWII, and the Germans deliberately recruited criminals for the carlingue.
