when the royal family travel to other countries they never all fly on the same plane in case there is an accident.

That's actually fairly common across a lot of sectors, for work when we travel, colleagues and I are split up over separate flights for the same reason.
 
I was told that if you dropped a coin off the top of the Empire State Building it would build up enough momentum during the drop that it would embed itself into the footpath below.

I recall watching an episode of mythbusters in year 10 science where this was disproved

They seemed to be ever-so-slightly uncomfortable with our discovery of their special plant; no doubt aware of its legal status in our own countries, it was their job to make sure we saw a positive representation of the DPRK. I don’t think they had planned on chaperoning a giggling pack of red-eyed imbeciles around their country’s proud military monuments.
 
It does less damage to drop a cat from 50 storeys high than 7 storeys high.

When dropped from 7 storeys the cat will have already reached its (largely non-fatal) terminal velocity so dropping it from a greater height gives it more time to manoeuvre in order to minimise injury.
