Condoms have been used as a protective cover for rifle barrels.

This was popular during the World War II where rifle barrels were wrapped with condoms to avoid salt water from damaging it. Condoms were also used with the same purpose where they had to crawl over sandy conditions. This prevents sand from entering the rifle barrels.

The first Australian Cricket Team ever recorded was actually a team of Aboriginals who toured the UK playing different counties/teams.

Gough please confirm, read it in a book of great cricketing photos at a cafe.

Yeah the next time a team of indigenous people represented Australia was the international rules team of 2013, was 120+ years

I am a deeply trivial person, useless pieces of information please me enormously and the more pointless the better as far as I'm concerned. This is the place to share both the pointless and trivial.
Two of my recent favourites;
Ian Redpath has a higher Test average than Mark Waugh.
Bruce Berry, immortalised in Neil Young's Tonight's the Night was the brother of Jan Berry of Jan and Dan surf music fame.

Gai Waterhouse used to be an actress and was in an mid 1970's Dr Who serial with Tom Baker (The Invasion of Time)

Adam Voges is an outside chance of holding a career test batting average of over 100 after the Sydney test (his 13th). This is the same Adam Voges whom the commentators were saying wasn't up to test standard in the recent Ashes series and whom I didn't/don't disagree with. It just indicates how far test cricket has fallen, outside of South Africa, England and Pakistan/India (away from Australia).

I'm kind of hoping that this happens...it would be hilarious.

No thread on big footy ever deteriorated in the space of 8 - 10 posts, like this one just did.

Dare I say that this thread has now been rejuvenated in the space of 8-10 posts, all thanks to some good old-fashioned brain-food diversion involving condoms.

The Olympic torch relay was conceived by the Nazis for the 1936 Berlin Games, intended as a way of displaying their international influence.
The reason there are so many languages in Europe, is because Germany lost the war.

Flamingos are only pink because of their diet, and can filter 20 beakfulls of water (for the algae) in 1 second
