Howdy ball fans.
Really enjoy the bigfooty NBA discussions, especially Fantasy. Noticed that most, if not all discussions are in regards to cat leagues. We play in a points league, I really enjoy points leagues better compared to categories. I'm wondering if anyone else plays in points leagues, and would really like to start some discussions that doesn't have anything to do with cat leagues.

Don't know much about points leagues. How do they work?
The same as any league, you start your best players every day but you earn fan points (fantasy points) for selected stats. These can range from made shots, steals, blocks, treys, def/off rb, dimes, but also lose points from TO's/missed shots (you can change how many fan points you score/lose, up to the you ) You play against players in your league, each contest lasts 7 days and the team with the most fan pts at the end of the 7th day wins the h2h match

I've been playing in points leagues for a few years now. The link below is how the last season turned out, although in hindsight the scoring system was very flawed and we're simplifying it this year.

Yeah pretty flawed, only 1 point for offensive boards?! IMO way too many points for steals/blocks, and you should add a few categories where you lose points, creates a more even league.
If any help, our league scoring settings:

roster Positions:PG, SG, SF, PF, C, Util, Util, BN, BN, BN, BN, IL
Players Stat CategoryValue
Field Goals Attempted (FGA)-.5
Field Goals Made (FGM)1.0
Free Throws Attempted (FTA)-0.75
Free Throws Made (FTM)1.0
3-point Shots Made (3PTM)2
Points Scored (PTS)0.5
Offensive Rebounds (OREB)2
Defensive Rebounds (DREB)1.5
Assists (AST)2.0
Steals (ST)3.0
Blocked Shots (BLK)3.0
Turnovers (TO)-2.0
Triple-Doubles (TD)5

It was an extra point for offensive rebounds so 4 instead of the normal 3 for a defensive rebound.

And yea the blocks and steals were ridiculous, guys like Whiteside and Gobert became top 15 players by the end of the season.

We've decided on a very simple points system this year loosely based on Fanduel.

Points: 2
Rebounds: 3
Assists: 4
Steals: 5
Blocks: 5

No one in the league wanted points lost for anything (takes away from the fun, especially missed shots) and we have some very casual NBA fans in the league so wanted to keep it very accessible.

Also scrapped the double double and triple double bonuses as the reward is in the stats themselves and the point difference between for example a guy who got 9 rebounds and another one who got 10 often seemed unfair.

Everyone we've recruited from category leagues says they would never go back.

Yeah that looks good. Looking at your settings, Ant Davis will be ridiculous in your league this season, same with DMC. But also other big men who produce across the board, someone like Marc Gasol will dominate in your league too be a use he gets assists

Yea well Davis should be #1 pick in virtually all formats, but you're right about Cousins he's second in my pre-draft rankings.

How many squad members and teams do you have in your league?
We are looking at 8 teams and 15 players on each squad with one IR spot as well.
