Just finished 35th/ 10439 runners in Event 61

Not bad considering i was down to half a blind at the 3.5/7K level after my QQ was cracked by AJ, after i turned a set. He hit runner runner for the 4 card straight

Got unlucky with about 70 odd left with my 10 10 getting rivered by AK, woulda had over a mil if he didn't hit an A or K

Ouch, good effort to get that far. But that sort of result can be incredibly tilting

Yeah, TBH I have had worse beats; I don't really play that many tournies, and I've never really had a "run like the sun" event in any of those majors. Variance is part of the game, and if you don't play that many tournies like myself you have to accept that its effect is going to be a lot larger because of the small sample size in terms of number of tournies played. In other words I've had some pretty sick bustouts at deepish/very deep stages of tournies but just don't play enough of them to overcome the bad luck that should even itself out over time.

Was an interesting tourney, by and large the play was pretty average overall.....a lot of players got caught up in 4 and 5 bet bluffing at early/mid stages of the tourney and it really doesn't mean much in a $22 BI event at those early pay jumps - I think more success to be had with it when the pay jumps are much larger and the money decently signficant. There were other things to note but yeah the "more active" players seemed to stack themselves out of deeper runs on the tables I was on.

The 5th installment of this series will run from July 19-29 (AEST).

Event 98 is the $22 NLH Main Event, which has guarantees of a $1M prize pool and $150K+ to 1st. Of course it's early on a Monday morning here in the eastern states, so for those of us with regular day jobs, that's not ideal. Better work on my fake cough I guess. :)
