Herein lays the need for complete & immediate disclosure of all political donations. It is absolutely vital for the sake of our democracy.
Agree! However political parties are notoriously duplicitous and clandestine when it comes to these matters. Much prefer political donations be illegal and the parties operating costs and campaign funds come from the public purse of a formula based on their percentage of voting support.

To do that we'd need to remove the masks that can be used....

Donations can only be made by real people (no companies, unions, trusts, etc etc). If you can't vote, you can't donate. (so no kids, or non citizens either).

Max of, say, $10,000 per person. If there is a massive shortfall, then add matching funding by the government.

Personally, I'd prefer all donations be made to specific candidates as well (make reps answerable to their constituents) although you'd need to be at least somewhat flexible for the Senate and party platform type announcements.

They could have banned him from Erindale and he could have just gone off to one of their other clubs. iirc, when I left Canberra, Vikings had 3 clubs. Is that still the case? Then of course you have the Raider's clubs.
They could have banned him yes...
The management were approached by many other mebers and made more thn aware of his menatl issues.
They wilfully stole his money for the profit of the club.

Canberra is littered with clubs alleging to be community organisations which are simply fleecing the community to build more clubs with more pokies. They exist for nothing else.

I know they're everywhere in Vic but you go into the clubs in the ACT, NSW and QLD and they have 100s in each place. When I last lived in Canberra, the Raidets club in Queanbeyan even had enough money to have smokers and non-smokers rooms.

Local clubs have become just as addicted to pokies as the gamblers.
The only solution is to ban them, except for the Casino. They are a cancer on society.

works in WA the fact they haven't done it in other states just shows how spineless the politicians are. People say it's impossible but if they can ban the entire greyhound industry then banning poker machines should be simple.
