closer to the mark than a 3 way deal involving Bartel for Polak...

Besides, Judd and Polak are BOTH future AA players.

Just trying to illustrate a point (maybe a tad clumsily I admit...)

But Bartel for Polak???

Yeah right.

There would have to be a COMPLETE breakdown in the relationship between Polak and the Dockers for us to be chance to nab him (but oh how sweet it would be!).

Surely if he doesn't accept their offer (that you would assume is pushing the sal. cap) then they would trade someone else on their list (mid range player) to free up some room. Polak would be very highly ranked amongst their players I would've thought (top 5-8 easily).

Still if things deteriorate between Schwabby and Polak's management your Uncle Trev will come and offer you some nice moula.

How about a three way with geelong.

WC - Haynes to Geelong
GEE - Bartel to Fremantle
WC - First rounder to Freo
FRE - Polak to West Coast.

Bewdifoo!!!

Polak would be absolutely outstanding- probably (along with Jonathan Brown and Riewoldt) the 3 most valuable possible acquisitions to our club.
Of course, because of that, Fremantle would never ever let him go if they had an iota of choice. Remember having a giggle at all those 'Steven Lawrence, Heath Black plus a 2nd rounder' suggestions for Judd during the year? If polak did decide to leave the club for salary reasons, he would not come cheap.

Having said that if he was on the market and definitely leaving freo, he'd be one of the very very few players in the competition who I would be seriously prepared to shell out for- he is a perfect fit for our club- makes us strong exactly where we are weak. Only thing is there is no point in gutting our midfield to shore up our kpps.
If they were in salary cap trouble, and he was definitely going, the focus would be putting a better deal on the table than any of the other 14 clubs could offer. Trade Wirrpunda east for a top 5 pick (several clubs would say yes to this, I think) then offer that and our other first round pick to Freo for Polak. Assuming he was leaving fremantle no matter what, I doubt many clubs would be prepared to match that.

Polak for 2 first rounders?

Haynes + first rounder is a little expensive, but not out of the question.

No way, I'd pull the trigger on that in an instant.

Polak is better than anything we could get at 11 and Haynes is an "already exitting" throw in.

Like Mead said who can you compare to Polak in this league? If the opportunity was there I hope we'd jump at it.

Hopefully the Eagles have made a nice juicy offer to Polak's management, like say 400k/year. That way the Dockers must pay through the nose to keep him and thereby putting them under salary cap pressure.

Polak for 2 first rounders?

A top 5 pick AND another 1st rd pick? Not sure Polak is quite worth that much. A top 5 pick would snare us Kepler Bradley or Fergus Watts, both highly rated KPP. The other 1st rd pick would get us Moody or Surjan or Johnson or some other gun youngster.

Uhh... if we traded Haynes+First round for Polak, I would classify that as a STEAL.

Not that far off...Dockers gave up pick 5 and 21 for Headland.

Polak as a potential AA CHB/CHF has probably a higher trade value then a potential AA midfielder/flanker.

It really comes down to how much you rate Polak, and people's opinions are going to vary on that. from where i'm sitting, he's a young, already very good, potential star kpp who can play CHF or CHB and whose greatest strength is the ability to take a contested mark. Normally, I'm pretty conservative come trade time, but if you asked me to describe the exact sort of player I'd want to add to west coast, that would be it, word for word.

If we had have been forced to give up Judd this year, he probably would have ended up going for 2 high first rounders, and I don't really think Polak is that much different. Some top 10 picks come good, some don't- you're trading two *potential* stars for one player of similar pedigree who has already shown he can handle the pressure and pace of AFL footy, and will make us instantly stronger on the field, whilst still having a lot of good development left in him.

Generally, kpp draftees are notorious for taking a while to develop- I don't think there is a Nick Riewoldt in this year's draft. Even Kepler Bradley, an undoubted gun down the track, simply doesn't have the brawn to hold down a key position right now.

After loading up with development talent over the last 2-3 years, I think we need to realise that this current group of cattle we have is going to have to be the nucleus of our premiership team if we win one during the Worsfold/Cousins era. All our marquee players have at least 3-4 good years in front of them, which means we should start pushing for the big one now- drafting for down the line might ensure that we're a quality side for years to come, but it won't win us flags. If we did, for arguments sake, trade Wirrpunda to get a pick to draft Bradley, we'd be weaker in the short term, and maybe a fair bit stronger in another couple of years- meanwhile, if we on-traded Wirrpunda and our 11th pick to get Polak, imo the immediate gain would outweigh the loss and make us a serious flag contender as of next year- we'd have a list with no holes, all of its key members 25 or under, and could confidently look forward to half a decade in contention. Sounds ok to me.

If Wirrpunda does want to go home, the only way I would be happy is if we got Polak or Hay in return.

This is still all just a storm in a tea cup though.

Agree, it is good to see you all drooling over our players. ;)
Ripper, as a Freo fan, if your team traded Polak to us, and in return you got our pick 11 or 12, and also pick 5, would you be happy?

And then I still wouldn't be happy.
Try to be serious for a minute, if Polak didn't want to accept what he was being offered, and asked to be traded....

.... ah nevermind, it is like talking to a brick wall.

To be serious Polly wont be traded. That is the brick wall that FFC will put up
