I was just wondering why you richmond supporters are so happy with polak's game yesterday?

who cares if he kicked two goals? you guys got him to play CHB. so why wasn't he playing there? when richo is in the side he will hardly spend anytime plaing in the forward line.

now don't get me wrong, two goals is a good effort. but will he have the chance to kick goals in the H&A season?

Why do you care? You should be more worried about courtney johns.

I really dread this year with Gaspar at fullback. Along with his aging, injury prone body, the new rules are going to sort him out as he is slow and relies on wrestling to thwart the full forward. Some of the quicker ones are gonna murder him. He even made ottens look good!

i thought the same after the game against geelong but r.robertson got murdered by him on the weekend. thats one awful game and one servicable game...i know he wont be great but i dont think he is going to be as bad as some ppl are making him out to be.

P.S. did anyone see the mark he dropped when he crept forward? classic!

An AFL player with a girl's name and a boy's name!

No wonder he always looks confused. Poor fella....er...chick....er

i'd prefer the name courtney than cleve and kelvin. and you've got a guy on your rookie list with the name Tasman.

oh and by the way....
if polak is having problems containing mooney and ottens, how is he going to go against brown, hall, pavlich, riewoldt, tredrea and lucas??????

maybe gaspar can take them????

oh hang on......no he can't

Reading too much into it, preseason match, Wallace probably wanted to see how he went up forward as he will no doubt try and throw him forward on occassions the throw the opposition off.

Also Richmond never said that we are going to play Polak just down the backline what we did say is he will play the majority of his time down back.

he's been playing on richo in every training session.

he's been playing on richo in every training session.

so ???

Gee shoot him now for playing in a nothing game up forward, how dare Wallace be a coach and test out our players in a nothing game to see if they could play in other positions, why would we do that? Last thing we need is to be totally unpredictable to opposition sides, being a versitle player is so 1990's.

And pretty much any decent coach will tell you the best way to learn to play as a key forward is to play against one.

Maybe we'd be better off with two 30+ full backs who've never played in a different position in their lives, or an ageing full forward who's never left the goal square except to take a dive.

Versatility at Essendon means changing ends for each quarter.

the point i was making was that he hasn't done any training in the forward line. so what is the point of playing him there???? i wasn't saying playing him on richo was a bad thing.

scarlett, glass and rutten are aa full backs in the last few years. when do you see them kicking goals??? good defenders don't have to be versatile.

i'll take fletcher and michael over gaspar and polak any day. tell me you wouldn't??????

I'd take Fletcher and Michael ahead of Gaspar, but I'd take Polak ahead of both of them - basically on age, but with a pretty optimistic future view too.

As for the AA comparison, Polak is (we're debating) a centre half back. The last four All Australian CHB's are Joel Bowden (extremely versatile, 218 games:151 goals), Trent Croad (CHB, CHF, 164 games: 161 goals), Chad Cornes (extremely versatile, can't find stats), and Justin Leppitsch (CHB, CHF, 227 games:193 goals).

Not that we're expecting Polak to go AA just yet (unless he hits the bottle) but the facts would suggest that the best CHB's in the business do have to be versatile.

:) NOT a matter of not training as a forward you black and red clown, Polak has PLAYED forward on many occasions. Who cares if he trains mostly as a defender, he needs to be versatile. A lot of his football at Freo was played as a forward ...always handy to have that option. Just as Schulz can turn defender at any given time, despite being branded a key forward!!!
So you're saying we ignore the fact Polak can play forward and because he has trained mainly as a defender, he must stay there. Dumb logic!

As for Dustbin Fletcher...give me a break. Well documented how he hides from the real key forwards, leaving the job to the likes of the now departed Solomon and McPhee and Kepler "I'll never be any good" Bradley!! Fletcher is a joke. For a guy who supposedly is one of the better full backs going around over the past decade or so, he sure hides from the likes of Fevola, Hall, Richardson, Thompson, Neitz. And when he does, he gets carved up!!!
He's the reason you got Michael, because Fletcher is shielded from the guys he should be playing on.

Yr a joke!!!!

Under your logic, Fletcher should never go forward (and has plenty of times), because he trains exclusively as a defender.

Though doubt there is anything as excluseive forward or defensive training. AFL footballers need to be versatile in this day and age - and prepared for anything!!!

:) BEN Graham??? No good. A full back who went forward and kicked goals. Nigel Smart. A fkey defender, who went forward and kicked goals!!!
Can be done!!!
Trent Croad. All Australian CHB, equally adept at both ennds of the ground!!! I saw Leppitsch play both CHF and CHB.
Your argument is a joke.
Under your logic, Essendon concedes the 1984 grand final as Billy Duckworth was a defender. Should never have been switched forward.

you guys are talking up polak for kicking two goals in a praccy game. how can you even compare him to the previous aa CHBs. The reason we got big mal is so kepler doesn't have to play at CHB.

patience, patience, patience, as a man with the first name terry and the last name wallace once said.

you can't bag fletch and mal for not kicking goals.

But when will this supposed champion full back Dustbin play on a decent key forward and stop hiding on smaller blokes?

And no, I'm not talking Polak up for two goals in a praccy game. You said he shouldn't be playing there, arse clown!

You've got to admit, Hulld, that you seem to have lost the plot and forgotten where you started. You wouldn't be a senile ex-plumber would you?

Arse clown - don't know what that is but I love it!

i concede defeat. i guess polak is the saviour after all.

only an essendon supporter would put lucas in that category. i would expect lloyd but please.

last time i checked lloydy was a full forward???????
lucas is better than cameron mooney.

point made. and yes lucas is better than mooney but still would not put him anywhere near the company of brown, hall, pavlich, riewoldt, tredrea.

Glad its going well for him.

Freo has an abundance of similar talent and he just couldn't crack the team.

Now he is out of his comfort zone hopefully he will start to see some results. Every time I watch him, I hope he sets the world on fire. Good pick up.!
