Hunter really needed to think of his image more when he opened the door shirtless, presumably not long after his house had been raided by police.

Of course it was going to be the media! Put a ****ing dress shirt on and when you get the door claim that you're going to a business meeting. Suddenly it's harder to paint you as a drugged up bogan.

shoddy journalism again..hunter wasnt at home when the police arrived to question the residents-a house he shares with 2 other people-who says 'at this stage' that they were after hunter?
also the cynic in me thinks isnt the timing of this article amazing-or simply unsurprising if your a WCE fan?..and yes, the rest of perth, indeed australia,is being devoutly chaste and sobre and wholesomely conservative..i daresay he's not doing a whole lot more than what half the population at his age are doing around the country.,let alone BF posters..enjoying life and being a bit naughty! :D
and yes, more ammo for the wce haters..so tedious..let them hate and spew out their bile..lets see how it all unfolds.
woosha reckons he's aiming for 1st or 2nd place this season, sounds far more interesting -its easy, you just choose the sensationalism that appeals to you most!? i tend to like a positive spin! :D
(i reckon they were blue pills?)

This is the best weekend for this news story to happen as everyone's attention is on the circus that is Rudd v Gillard. This story will be forgotten in a few days time as we have more important things to worry about, like who will be in the team for the game against Port Adelaide.

Totally irrelevant to the Club and where we are going at present. However, I'm not really surprised.

Hunter was a great player for us a finals specialist.

He was never a smart person however.

His choices in friends leaves a lot to be desired.

Also believe one of his house mates has a criminal record, and the drugs probaly belong to him.

Either way its not a good look and to have such people live with you seems to be asking for trouble.

You seem to suggest one should analyse and think over who they should be friends with? What's wrong with being friends with your peers? It's not as if he went to Wesley or Hale and then decided to hang out with bad boys in some sort of dumb arse romantic/image related notion. Hunter is from Souf Bumbry FFS.

We shouldn't have to worry about the actions of somebody who no longer has any direct ties to the club. It hardly at all is hurting the fabric or moral integrity of the club when you compare it to how it shows the supporters and associates of the other 17 clubs for their hypocrisy and denial of what is a problem in all areas of life.
In regards to attacks via the media, what reasonable person actually takes any of them seriously? Hardly any journalists in this country have any integrity and I couldn't care if they wish to take aim at other organisations because it is likely because their background isn't so cosy either.

When 5 other premiership players from 1 side come get charged with drug problems. Ill say yes its a common problem. It is 1 of 2 things. Either the eagles boys r dumb n dont hide it as much as other afl players who may take recreational drugs orr were the only ones with the x players & drug problems.

In the early 00's there was issues. Does every other club have issues? Yes? Then why are we the only dumb ones gettin caught?

It's pretty much a reflection of society except here you had a massive case of male bonding and invincibility.

Recreational drugs are common place and not as bad as you think. You know Steve Jobs and the vast majority of high achievers have used recreational drugs, right?

Yes.

The culture of drug taking within the AFL has been around for a long time. With the increase of party drugs such as ecstacy and cocaine among the wider community in the early 90s it was always going to infiltrate football players - young, popular, cashed up, and hanging with high rollers.

Peaked last decade, now on the decline.

Then why are we the only dumb ones gettin caught?
1. Arrogance
2. Cousins, Gardiner, and Kerr consorting with Perth's criminal king pin
3. Cousins being the leader and a massive drug taker. Very influential on his team mates

At the time it was rife in the AFL but make no mistake the Eagles had the biggest problem. The difference was one B.Cousins.

remember those two carlton players that rocked upto training high laurence angwin i think he got the cut and the other didnt. Didak was in a car in which a dude shot someone.

But yes when one of the best players in the league who happens to be your teams captain is partying it up the way he did/does your going to get people who follow their leader

I just don't even see the need for the media to report on the lives of these former players at all. I don't even know if those drugs would have belonged to Hunter and frankly, I don't care. It is his private life, and he isn't the only person I know to dabble with drugs. If I am correct, this country has the highest number of cannabis users (the gateway drug) per capita and yet arrogant journalists and Bigfooty posters seem to take aim at the Eagles as if the club is responsible for the large minority of people using more harmful recreational drugs. I can't wait for the day when a high-profile player from another club is suspended for dabbling with an illicit substance because I am absolutely going to rip into them and annihilate the remainder of their brain cells.

Totally agree...
Pretty happy not much was made of it in Melbourne, any excuse to hang Sh!t on our club with its history is gladly taken by any WC haters over here..
They do it cos they have nothing else to hang it on us for.

No,they do it because there's an alarming pattern progressing, true or perceived...

There were some issues with that group and their off-field behaviour.

Also True, But trust me thats all you hear about with the eagles in Melbourne... They were and probably will always have that reputation..
Only great football and and good attitudes outside of the game for our players will change that.
What is the pattern progressing? I haventy heard of any current players with similar attitudes that the old crop had..?

Plenty of discussion on the Eagles footy in Melbourne, we got a really good run in the press last year - I live here too.

In terms of the pattern, I just mean stuff coming up about these guys after they retire - Cousins, Chick, Fletcher etc
