The 16-year-old-boy shot by police was rushed to hospital but died a short time after.

Police say they received an emergency call just after 10pm on Saturday from a teen saying he was going commit acts of violence.

Police then rushed to the location (Willetton near Bunnings) after a second call was received from someone at the scene.

Mr Cook said members of the WA Muslim community also phoned police to alert them.

The teen was shot after he rushed at police.

Another man was found at the scene with stab wounds to his back.

The 16yo stabbed a 30yo man who was leaving the gym, he's in stable condition.

Three minutes after the first triple-0 call from a member of the public, three police officers arrived at the Bunnings car park and found a male running around with a large kitchen knife. Two officers drew their Tasers, a third drew his firearm and ordered him to drop the weapon.


The teen lunged at two of the officers, who both deployed their Tasers, however the male was wearing baggy clothes and was not brought down.

When he lunged at the third police officer, he was shot.

Blanch said the teen had a complex mental health history and had been taking part in a rehabilitation program for people who had been radicalised online.

He had been in the program since he was 14 years old.

So sad on so many levels.
Clearly the victim has the right to shop safely at Bunnings.
Alleged perpetrator only young and deradicalisation failed. Mental health issues also?
Police who had to shoot and the kid in a seemingly suicide by cop.
The families and friends of all involved.
Local Muslim community especially those who contacted police fearing this person was dangerous.

Maybe the deradicalisation program in Perth for the 16yo shot dead by Police was wholly or partly delivered in person to him.

Tasmanian senator Jacqui Lambie also said she was “terribly concerned” about radicalisation online and said it’s time “we talked about putting fully qualified psychiatrists or psychologists in our schools.

“Maybe looking at reducing the chaplains program because I’m not sure that that is helpful either,” she told Nine’s Today.

She added she wanted deradicalisation programs to happen in person rather than through online programs.

“The older they are … the more desensitised they’ve become because of social media platforms.”
