Using the "got a legal opinion" as a shield to try and stall referring members to the HC was pretty flimsy though.
Agreed.. and I was suggesting that he should have been referring them long before he got around to it.
The proper course of action was clearly to refer yourself as soon as any issue arose which all non-ALP/Centre Alliance members managed to do.
No argument there. He spent too long trying to score political points, when he should have been "doing the right thing". Both sides are guilty of it. The Libs still have a couple of MPs with question marks, that they refuse to refer to the HC "because it's Labor's turn".

He's half right. He did act according to the legal advice he was given. Section 44 doesn't need to be reviewed. I don't want anyone who has even the perception of loyalty to another country making laws that affect Australians.

Liberal Attorney General Christian Porter was on the money......Labor's legal eagles were not.

Already moved on from a farce of a budget. Fickle electorate is fickle.

An “Infrastructure budget” that’s actually a reduction in previous budget spending on infrastructure in real terms.

Budgets continually based on ridiculously high wages growth figures that will never be realized.

Get in the bin politicians. All of you.

Now that Labor has "had it's turn", and 4 ALP MPs have resigned, will Turnbull now (belatedly) refer the likes of Alex Hawke and Julia Banks to the HC as well? There are 4 or 5 Liberals still sitting in parliament who have question marks hanging over their heads - questions which can only be answered by the HC.

The problem here isn't Section 44 of the Constitution, it's the politicians who thought they could get away with paying it lip service or ignoring it completely.

Not that I'm up to date with this topic, but why not have a complete audit of all the members and clear the air once and for all.

The biggest problem has been the bi-partisan conspiracy to ignore s 44 and its operation.

We've had cabinet ministers and likely Prime Ministers who have been ineligible.

And to think it took an internal Greens shit fight to bring this all to light.

Supposedly they did... but the pollies just declared themselves to be clean.

For example... Julia Banks says that she's not eligible for Italian citizenship, yet her brother had absolutely no difficulty at all obtaining it on the basis of Italian genealogy. Banks refuses to refer herself to the HC. There are 3 or 4 other Libs with equally questionable circumstances.

Then it should be up to the Speaker and Senate President to enforce them to do so. Unless they are non entitled as well.

So many promises, so little delivered.

I guess we do have a do little to nothing government after all.

So where are all those assholes who said SA would be better off with a Liberal government?

Jay doesn't look so bad right now with Marshall being more than happy to see us get reamed by the feds.

All these assholes?

You know you were reamed by Jay right? Were you just as nasty then or ignorant to it?

As for Marshall getting reamed, let’s wait and see what happens.

Have you seen the budget? They took a massive dump on our heads and Marshall said thankyou for the hat. Say what you like about Jay. At least he wasn't meek.

Could not agree more...This joker is all that's keeping the Libs in the Election race.

I like how you post Murdoch owned drivel and think it's informative. Why are you so desperate to see the most useless government we've ever had get re-elected?

Edit: Forgot I was quoting Bicks. Of course a gullible stooge like you would be a Liberal voter.

Pink bats deaths, deaths at sea when we opened the borders again, stimulus spending on dead people, people overseas and in jail, mining tax that didn’t raise any money, you don’t seem to be very objective when forming your opinions.

Assholes, gullible stooge, you’re not a lefty are you? They do tend to get very nasty.

Jay was dodgy and tried to avoid all scrutiny. The budget has just been announced, why don’t you actually wait to see what happens before turning nasty.

I'm not a tree hugging lefty but I am really ******* tired of the Liberal government.
