Bill Shorten working on secret deal with CFMEU in a bid to secure leadership

BILL Shorten is working on a secret deal with the grubby CFMEU and the hard-core left to secure his leadership in return for giving the union spots in his federal Labor team.
The Daily Telegraph has obtained a leaked working agreement of a deal currently being negotiated between Mr Shorten, the CFMEU’s Victorian Assistant Secretary Shaun Reardon, who is facing blackmail charges, and the Industrial Left (IL), which includes the Maritime Union of Australia, Rail Tram and Bus Union, the Financial Sector Union and the Health and Community Services Union. A day before the crucial Bennelong by-election last weekend, Mr Shorten met with factional players Adem Somyurek, who was forced to resign from Victorian cabinet over bullying claims two years ago and the Plumbers Union’s Earl Setches as well as factional ally Andrew Landeryou in his office to discuss the agreement, which replaces the previous ‘Stability Deal’ which allocated held seats to individual factions over many years, fettering the democratic rights of the membership and affiliated trade unions,” it states. “It is, however, recognised that the IL (which includes a significant number of unions and rank and file members) is not adequately represented in state and federal parliamentary or party structures due to the operation of the Stability Agreements. The IL will also be supported for a safe seat in the round of 2022 federal seat preselections … ”.

"And bring the rest of your ABC regulars, those gangrenous, homosexual Greens, including that cosmetically challenged communist, Lee Rhiannon, with you ‘cos I have a couple of 6 foot 6 inch sons who have a lovely Christmas present for you all… a turkey and cranberry sauce knuckle sandwich"

Oh Larry, you want your sons to beat up homosexuals for Christmas?

but... but... the left are militant and want to hurt people!

It'd be amusing if it wasn't a sadly transparent attempt to play to an audience for clicks and patronage.

I thought the article was mostly fairly humorous, but that was a very ordinary and unfunny way to sign off.

Begs the question how dumb are Labor?
Isn't having Turnbull and the LNP "on the ropes" for the last year enough of an advantage for these people now there's leadership rumblings in play with them too by the looks.........We all know Shorten is far from ideal Prime Minister material but surely the Labor Party has seen what effect knifing leaders has on the voters. Beggar's belief.

Shorten doing deals with his dodgy union mates would be music to the ears of Turnbull.

The sooner Labor kick out Shorten for someone actually genuine like Albanese the better.
All the Libs have to do in the lead up to the next election is run ads with the 2 bozos John Setka and Shaun Reardon, and ask the voters do they really know who they’re voting for.

The Libs will get smashed at the next election. Running ads featuring people no one knows who maybe did stuff people didn't follow just dilutes their message.

The triangle jerk on this thread makes it sound like things are going amazingly for the Tory's, but they still sit at 45% or so in all polling, and when the rubber hits the road it will be like WA and Qld, and the disunity of Lib/Nat/ON and their extremists will turn people off.

God, it felt great ignoring this thread.

POLITICIANS have been promising to get the budget into surplus for years but despite their optimistic forecasts, Australia still looks like it’s a long way from being back in the black.

Australia has not had a surplus since 2007-08 when the Rudd Government spent heavily to insulate the country’s economy against the global financial crisis.

Since then, successive governments have released estimates of when the budget would be returned to surplus but each year this date has been pushed further back.

The 2010-11 budget suggested Australia would be in surplus again in 2012-13 — five years ago.

The Turnbull Government now expects this to happen in 2020-21.

There's a simple answer. Don't believe any of them.

And it just reinforces to me the idea that economies pretty much take care of themselves (exceptional events excluded) and the idea that a former Union boss turned Treasurer or a former businessman turned Treasurer is some kind of financial guru.

What a load of cobblers.

Something good you say with the state's economy a basket case, leading industries being paid taxpayers $$$$$'s to shut down over summer if electricity supply can't meet demand, dirty polluting diesel generators employed to make up the shortfall in power demand when the wind doesn't blow at an undisclosed cost to the taxpayer....Yeah it's something good alright!!
You post sone really good stuff concerning football but after posting this one has to question everything you say

The science is clear on what I said unless you're someone profiting from the madness. Renewables are the future cheaper cleaner and more reliable. You only have to look at the rest of the world

But there's a responsible way to get there. You don't just switch off overnight unless you're certain that you've got enough certainty surrounding your power supply stability. It's no different to getting the budget back into order, governments cannot borrow forever, so it needs to happen. But, you don't do it overnight, you set a realistic goal and work steadily towards achieving it. Ultimately, the entire globe will be forced into 100% renewable use, such is the nature of finite resources. But there's no reason for a small economy like SA to handicap itself commercially and place extra financial pressure on its citizens to keep the lights/cool on.

More reliable surely you jest, at this point in time that is so far from the truth it's laughable, and that's without factoring in the heavy subsidies being payed now, in the past and into the future to the renewable industries......... I'll have some of what you're smoking cos it some seriously good gear!!

Meanwhile Industrial giant Germany [champions of renewables] are building new generation coal fired Power Stations because they know there is still a need for RELIABLE base load power to power their economy when renewables can't cut it alone...funny that.
