There are tens of thousands of people on ice right now. They aren’t all committing crimes.
EFA

And those that are in most cases are committing violent crimes to feed their addiction. i.e. Robbery and Assaults, not setting out to mow down innocent people going about their everyday lives in a four wheel drive, no coincidence this was done in the Christmas period and at a time in the late afternoon when the most people would be in the area. You would expect he was drug tested immediately after they had arrested him.

Drug/mental health problem with an agenda are the people we need to be worried about.

Drug problem with no agenda/trying to block out feelings are more likely to be involved in property crime to feed the habit... but can also become violent too, but unlikely to involve deliberately maiming a crowd.

Can someone explain these ****** up shopping laws? Mile End Home centre has half shops open, others closed including your Good Guys etc.

Kane McGoodwin whats Nicks position on this?
Yes, our public holiday shopping laws are archaic. From recollection can only sell certain types of items, so stores are only half open.

No idea of Xman's position, but given he is normally pragmatic, don't think he would be pleased with the current nonsense.

I genuinely didn’t know when I asked the question so I wasn’t trying to set you up but this is his policy:

So it seems if it’s up to Nick we will stay archaic.

I would hope that if he was involved in any decision on trading hours, that he would properly weigh up what has happened in other jurisdictions to come up with a better situation than we have now. I appreciate that small businesses need to be protected (only need to open when they want), but we also need remove the farcical situation on public holidays.

On penalties, there needs to be a balanced approach between workers being rewarded for non core times & rates that are so high that it is unaffordable for business. Having a paddle pop worker comfortably earning over $120K pa is ridiculous.

Jesus I hope this twerp comes crashing to the ground big time...

I doubt the Xman will be premier as I see them finishing 3rd behind Libs & Labor for seats. I don't think he even has enough candidates for a majority yet, so bit of nothing article in reality.

Will you be critical of him if before the election he supports no change to our archaic system?

No I don’t and yes I have.

But I’m a staunch Liberal, you’re not really a supporter of any party are you?
Correct, my allegiances change depending on the person or team, rather than the party... & if I don't fully trust them outright, I may vote for another party in the lower house.

The major parties really are not that different on the political spectrum, so more important as to who will manage better... & at state level, I don't have faith in either major party.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard either Lib or Labor leaders say they exist to be hated by the other party.
Most leaders have said hateful things, much of which is unnecessary.

Many actually get on behind closed doors, but their public persona is different so as to attempt to differentiate themselves from each other.

And who would decide that balance? Maybe an independent body - say that Fair Work Commissioner. What a novel idea. So novel in fact they brought down a ruling several months ago. Let’s use that.
