Oh God imagine Rudd in a high power job at the UN!
Telling Rudd "No" is probably the best thing Turnbull has done since taking over from Abbott. Actually, it's almost the only thing he's done - full stop.

Not when you lose a "plum" because of their total "balls up" of the SA Health system anyhow...:(

Some years ago, there was a medical specialist (Port supporter) who had obtained an administrative position within the state health department. At some point he approved the construction of a hospital extension which included a patient transport corridor that was too narrow to fit a hospital bed, and as a reward for this act of buffoonery, he was "demoted" to leading a specialist department team where more havoc occurred. The highlight was hiring an overseas trained specialist on cheaper registrar rates, except the poor guy couldn't speak much English (had to take time off for weekly lessons) and ended up costing the department more because he took on so many overtime shifts from junior doctors.

When you have people responsible for decisions like these still involved in the management of the organisation, it's no wonder that SA Health struggles to function.

France is lost is a bit melodramatic don't you think?

not pleasant scenes by any means but not the death of a nation, Christ... does she have any idea what they've been through?

More Muslims "thanking" their host nation.

#illridewithyou

They should put posters of this on our bus stops rather than a "she came by boat too".

You are truly insane. You put the safety of your own citizens a distant second to a warp sense of political correctness. Pathetic.

I'm talking about France, the country, throughout history - not the people trying to kick in a police car.

let's not forget the US has seen riots just as bad if not worse than we see in that clip as recently as weeks ago in response to policemen going around shooting whoever they want. That's not the end of society either, they're isolated incidents like this probably is.

that tweet is blatant fear mongering, and France is certainly not "lost". One of the most politically engaged countries I've ever visited, they'll be alright long-term. Like I was suggesting, the country is no stranger to a violent pretest and the people don't take their liberty for granted.

watching on from behind the computer screen in a country where one of the largest recent protests was over changing the flavour of BBQ Shapes and it's easy to see how we might not share the French perspective.

Surely weatherill has to resign now. One of the major recommendations. "cases no longer will be closed without investigation" - wow, staggering.

It's a bit like the boy who cried wolf though isn't it.

A minister orders the wrong milk in a latte and there's calls for him to resign.

Jay should resign. Everyone knew the merging of Child Protection and Education departments was ludicrous, but Jay knew best.

I think he's going to start getting pressure from his own party though. The right faction will be circling, and Jay's only lucky that Malinauskas is still such a greenshoe in parliament.

Do the Census online they said. It'd be fun they said :D

Gonna do mine on the weekend. Should have done it last weekend.

Knew it would fall over tonight.

Is funny hearing Nick "Foghorn Leghorn" Xenophon bang on about them taking personal details and the Government holding it electronically, yet I am sure he lodges his tax electronically. Whether it is himself or via an accountant.

The exact same details are held in a myriad of databases. But this clown decides to grandstand again.

After his short-sightedness as education minister with the gutting of realistic adult education options for those in low socio-economic circumstances, that guy and his cronies have well and truly lost my vote and will it'll remain lost while he's anywhere near the party.

The North Remembers!

I love that they claim they did simulated load testing on the web server. Even with web servers not being my absolute forte as a sys admin I can say with certainty that they're telling lies. More likely they just lacked the care-factor to develop the simple tools to test their web server under real-world loads. Let the people do the testing seems to be the way the dev world operates nowadays.

Also, I believe I found their web dev QA guy

Suspect it was the same mob who did the NDIS website ;)

I see they're saying it was DoS attacks, from outside the country...

We're seeing the first Mack-Horton-retaliations!!!
The small business minister has denied this.

More like a DDoS by the Aussies trying to use the hopeless server. Ayyy, lmao.

What a convenient excuse to use these days, though. No matter the root cause of not allocating enough resources to a web server (surely they're clustered, right? Bueller?) it = DDoS.

I can believe that the earlier attacks might have been DDoS. But not the 7:30 "attack". That one stinks of insufficient resources.

Let's do the maths... They were expecting 16 million people to do the census last night. Fair bet that at least 75% of those would have been expected to do it between 7-10pm. So.. 12 million people, over a 3-hour period, or 4 million hits per hour. Even allowing for the time differences between the states, it's still around 3 million hits per hour.

A properly designed system would have been capable of handling 6-8 million hits per hour during that surge period. The ABS system was rated to handle 1 million hits per hour. And they wonder why it fell over.....

Couldn't organise a piss-up in a brewery.

So Labor are now blocking budget measures they banked in their budget forecasts during the election.
