Little Britain's David Walliams accused of racism over children's book character Raj the Indian shopkeeper who comically mangles the English language

It is not the first time David Walliams has been caught in a racism storm. He starred in the sketch show Little Britain, which came under fire for characters such as Thai mail-order bride Ting Tong.

It's hard to believe what these guys get away with. Check out their show "Come Fly With Me". It's riddled with non PC stereotypes. Loved it.

What has been hard to fathom is these PC people who are outraged in everyday life, but then laugh at a Comedy Festival show which is full of racial & sexual innuendo ....and PC incorrect material

After all "most" comedians have made their living making fun of others .......it must be getting really tough on Comedians Now

I reckon most old movies would be banned today , based on their political correctness

probably best to find an example where the comedian hasn't used a plant

There's subliminal wisdom there. When he was challenged on his bigotry he cried racism like many white people do. He used abuse and profanity to enforce his views. This forum is full of that behavior

Canny bit of work.

you reckon she was a plant. She looked genuine to me.

from the comedian himself

In this show, I staged a racist argument between two plants in the audience – an Indian actress (Sajeela Kershi) and her partner (Steve McNeal) – and me, simultaneously satirising hypocrisy and bigotry.

The back story for Sajeela's character was that she turns up to the show specifically to be offended by everything I say

Seriously, you should not get the sack from your employment becuase of a comment .....could have big financial ramifications (loss of house ect) .........where's the commonsense

Pretty stupid thing to say although I must admit I laughed....how did this woman not think that the supervisor would take the comment to heart? Interesting that it was a woman-to-woman comment

I would have thought the supervisor was aware of her physical state & could have maybe taken it in a better vein ......but for it to cost someone's job is ludicrous

I agree, don't think she should have been sacked. If she said something like 'Hey you're a fatso and have more blubber than me therefore you don't feel the cold as much' then I get it....

A larger person is sensitive about their weight, shock ****ing horror.

Look, the woman who got sacked is, pretty evidently, a dickhead and to be tone deaf enough to say that to a supervisor is inevitably going to be a liability to a team environment. Especially as weight has been a very common topic for bullying, so I'm all for that sacking. Of course that's not factoring that we really don't know the backstory here, personally, I struggle to believe that was a one off mistake.

Having an issue with this is really just you wanting to take an issue with something. No different to the people you're complaining about.

Political correctness, what is actually the definition?

Too dumb to express oneself openly, so one tries and act smart by talking in narrow-minded dialogues?

The act of trying to please everyone when in reality, there’s bound to be a few you’re going to piss off no matter what you say?

I'm taking the story at face value, that it was based on this single comment ......seriously, you'd be happy to be sacked for that comment, which wasn't aimed at trying to put another person down, simply wanting the heating adjusted ????

This is the dilemma now in society ......your words & actions are bound to offend someone, and it's almost unavoidable

I once called my office girls ...."girls" and was soundly rebuked, they insisted on being called "ladies" and considered it a put down ....i could have said the reverse and called them "ladies" and been rebuked as well

The over-correction is now that extreme and ridiculous that it's starting to dilute the original message. There was a case in the UK where a transgender going though the process sexually assaulted 2 women when she/he was sent to a female prison. Her record included two counts of raping women. Mind you it was England which always seems to put the cause ahead of the safety of the individual.

I will be telling my son he needs to respect all different types of people but no way will I be telling him that transgender is normal.

This is Obama's gift to the world.

What part of "you have natural padding which I don't" isn't aimed at putting someone down?

She literally said the reason you're warm is because your fat, and yeah, if you're stupid enough to say that to a supervisor, you deserve to be sacked.

That's the workplace equivalent of a moth being attracted to a bug zapper.

We'll have to diasgree then ......far more serious sackable offenses, and it's easy from the cheap seats, when you're not directly affected

There was a fat lady at my work who used to make self-deprecating comments about her weight so once I went over to her desk and said 'Hey, look out! I think you just sat in some cottage cheese.....oh sorry...that's your arse'. She wasn't too happy.
