Extremely reluctantly, I would have to agree with Gregg Swann's 'last chance or you're out' action Towards Fevola. Of course it would be an absolute shame to see such a gifted player running around in different colours due to something that was courtesy of his own actions, but we have to take a stance towards discipline at our club and we can't have a character like Fevola roaming the streets at 4 in the morning creating havoc and denting the reputation of our famous club. Fev mate, please stay booze free and don't get up to any mischief. We need you mate.

Yes. And i must say about bloody time.

If this doesn't kick him up the ass then nothing will and it will be time to part ways.

Grow up Brendan.

Yes. He's had more chances than Paris Hilton's had shags.

I think the worst thing, love him or hate him would be watching his ability at another team.

Yeap,

copped a large fine - tick
exclusion from leadership group - tick
last chance - tick

IMO this last incident wasn't that big a deal, more the fact he was out that late (even though we have no curfew) drinking, than the actual incident. If it wasn't for the culmination of all the previous crap people would probably be laughing at this.

Hoping the last chance stance forces him to wake up to himself, if not I'd agree with the club to trade / sack him whatever path they choose.

I too would have to reluctantly say yes. Almost went for the last option though.
He has had enough chances to get his act together and it just keeps happening. It's not good enough.

i dont think it was the urinating..
It was about alcohol a little bit but mainly the fact that 4 days before a footy game he is out at 4 28 am ....

Disgracefull.. Clever punishment by Swann but i think bit too late... but if he does break the rules he should be sacked.

I am comfortable with what Greg Swann has put forward as a punishment for Fev. Swann at this stage hasnt put a foot wrong with his deciosn making and i have faith in the guy (unlike Fev).

As much as I luv watching Fev and the excitement he brings to the Carlton games if he ain't gunna tow the line they may as well piss him off.

I would like to know what the people who selected the 'suitable trade' option thinks.

If Fev has a bender this weekend we wouldn't know who's up for trade and surely the sacking would be immediate.

Where's the option of:

"Who the **** is going to kick our goals if we get rid of him?"

Does anyone care if I told you that old Colonel Sanders was a thug and a womaniser? Or do you just care that he produced the best god damed greasiest chicken there is!

Success comes from talent, we are not, and will not be in a position to get rid of a potentially 100+ goal kicker before Fev retires. No one argued that Pratt should stand down, so please, lets not take the moral high ground now.

Imagine if someone said to David Rhys Jones in 1985 "get suspended again and you're outta here". He would never have destroyed Dermie in the '87 GF and we might not have won that day.

It's a tough one becuase i honestly don't really care that much if Fev pisses on someone's window or gets caught speeding - if he kicks his share of goals and sets a few up then that's the main thing, but of course if he's behaving in a way that brings shame on the club and makes it hard to get/retain sponsors then you have to weigh that up.

Swann is a clever man and i guess we just trust that he's doing the right thing.

Hopefully Fev gets it together (and keeps it together), but geez i'd hate to lose a talented matchwinner because of some trivial little off-field thing.

And let's keep his latest transgression in perspective. All the blokes from the A and B grade at my local cricket club had beers at our local last sunday night. At least half a dozen guys urinated outside on the footpath at some point, but because none of them are famous there were no cameras and no news story. And how many posters on BF have made the papers for breaking the speed limit ?

I don't like this move.

Mainly because we have almost backed ourselves into a corner where by we could lose the leagues best FUF to another club for nothing.

If he's going to **** up again then fine get rid of him, but for ****s sake don't do it so we get nothing for him.

We need to do what Hurts Fev - what will make him have a wake up call :

The club needs to come out an d publicly humiliate him. (Which this move does).
The players need to tell Fev he is a w***er - Fev has confidence issues and will only respond to being chastised.

Fev should be told he will not play another game for the season rather than sacked. He should be made to turn up to training - ho should be made to be a runner during the game. He should be completely banned from any media appearances - and he should be fined if he drinks. Massively - His season if need be. If he doesn't agree to what needs to be done for his benefit - sack him.

Teaching him this now will only help him forever. He should be sat down and made t agree.

There's no way I'd sack him a la Ben Cousins. His currency is too high for that. We would get a quality first round pick for him easily. We're not in the position of throwing talent away.

The best thing that comes out of this is Fev getting alcohol counseling. He needs to realise that he should never drink again. He's got five years left as a footballer, he can tie one on afterwards as much as he likes.

I had a girlfriend like this once. A few drinks and she'd have blackouts do dumb shit and know absolutely nothing about it the next day. She gave up after taking a short-cut across a camp fire one night.

I totally agree with you. Without fev, all we have to look forward to is more wooden spoons.:(

And what's been happening for the last 5 years with him.

Sometimes you have to bite the bullet. Bit like being married. It's gunna hurt like hell but eventually it would be for the best. Don't get me wrong I'd prefer a head screwed on, goal kicking machine, who was home tucked up in bed by 10.30pm. But if this aint gunna happen and he buggers up one more time, rip the band aid of quickly.

Totally agree. Losing Fev would do more damage to the club than keeping him after pissing on a restaurant. Footballers aren't angels all the time- i.e. West Coast Eagles, but look at what it took for Ben Cousins to be sacked- massive drug problem. I don't think going 20kms over the limit and peeing on a shop is enough. We can't afford to lose talent like that.

Everyone's got a mate like Fev.
I know I do. Top bloke, all heart, there for you etc etc.
But get him on the grog, and it's the downward spiral.
It is a problem for many and for Fev it's a chance to
get himself onto a new path that will hold him in good stead
for the rest of his life. Luckily for him he's in a really good position
with people who give a damn, and a employer who's willing
to help him through it. Others aren't so lucky.
As like my mate, he's the genuine article 90% of time
and willing to do so much for others.
I hope Fev pulls it together,
not only so we can see him succeed with the blues,
but so he can be an example for everyone else in his position.

It's a hard thing because, as moronic as Brendan seems to be away from the club, he's obviously respected enough within it to be elected to the leadership group.

But he's got to go now, no matter what he does for the rest of this year.

Here is a bloke who has been able to kick 70 goals when recieving relatively medicore delivery. He's now in a position where he has a legitmate shot of kick a ton for 4 or 5 seasons and yet he's out at 5am a week before the first game.

He's got every reason to be motivated for this season and he's still acting like a child. The bloke simply won't learn and he needs to be shipped off. I just hope he kicks a ton this year so someone gives us something good in return.

Totally agree. It's funny how we have a president that has swindled millions of dollars out of everyday Australians and everyone's all cool about it. Then we have someone who pisses against a wall and everyone wants to crucify him. Apart from cheating on his missus, which by the way shouldn't be bought into past indiscretions, it's just been drunken tomfoolery by a self professed idiot. As long as he kicks goals, I couldn't care less what he does in his own time.

Fev is 27.

He has maybe 5-6 years of good footy left, but he can also be the ball and chain around our leg........much like Lockett was for the Saints.

He needs to have a total alcohol ban for the duration of his career, and unless he aspires to be the next Wayne Carey, he might consider drying out for life.

He has a substance abuse problem, he needs help, and if that means not being at our club then so be it.

In light of this and the sentiments about not losing him for notheing etc, I would be open to a trade at seasons end, regardless of his year, and in fact the better the year the more I'd be open to the trade.

He poses a dilemma with this situation.

IF he can dry out then he may help lead this team to a flag.

IF he can't (and the evidence would be over the years he tends to revert to his usual form) then he could cost us in terms of development and money.

Tough call. Swanny has got my vote.:thumbsu:

Thank god you're not in charge of player welfare . People with confidence issues need to be chastised?? I think you work with computers don't you?? Probably a good thing you stick with them and not people ;):p
