What do you prefer....

1. Keep the 32 team threads separate, AND, have the 8 division threads.
or
2. Merge all the 32 team threads INTO the specific division threads.

1) idea would be team threads to still keep a place where people can post trivial crap about their teams, and as a safe haven for themselves to talk...whilst giving fans of a division a place to rip into each other and their teams.

2) idea would be, most of the team threads are dead anyway, and not enough fans of any one team, to justify having 32 threads. Also, by merging them together, you'll get more fans per se of a division posting in a thread than those same fans posting in 4 different threads for the teams. Also, only eight threads, so easier to locate, compared to 32. And, lastly, all those posts from the team threads remain in posterity at the front of the mass-merged division thread, but people would still be up to where those threads are at in the current time (go to first unread).

Poll open for three months....or....till there's a massive majority in favor of one thing. Implement as soon as massive majority reached.

Yes. With LA on this.

The Divisional thread should be the main rivalry thread while the individual team threads are for the minutiae of team news and rumour etc.

minutiae
mɪˈnjuːʃɪiː,mʌɪ-,-ʃɪʌɪ/
noun
plural noun: minutiae; plural noun: minutia
  1. the small, precise, or trivial details of something.
    "the minutiae of everyday life"
synonyms: details, niceties, subtleties, finer points, particulars, specifics
:D

Don't know why people are against more threads

If you don't want them, just dont post in them
The main issue for those "against" is the cluttered nature of the board.

But in thinking about it, it's probably also better in terms of post-counts and activity FOR those threads. Like...say there are 4 pats fans, 1 bills, 2 jets, and 1 dolphin fan, that are very active on the board per se. But in their own team thread, none of them post that much at all because there's no one really engaging them in conversation...especially fans of the same teams. You'd get them all maybe posting some tidbits of information, a signing, an article about something. That's it. But put all those 8 people into ONE thread, as the ONLY place where they can discuss anything related to their division, and then you'd get all 8 of them posting more as they engage each other more.

One other downside to merging all into their respective division threads......what happens when an NFL team relocates and the NFL shuffles a team or two around to different divisions?? Those merged division threads would be a mess.

But but aren't you recruiting? You know 1c per like $100 for every poster that posts 10 or more on this Board?

That would be in my contract. Need an agent?

Trust me, this board is nowhere near cluttered

Have you ever been to the Basketball board? That's what you call cluttered

Personally, I agree. The NFL board is not cluttered. During the thick of the NFL season, there'd just be about four stickies, the weekly thread, two or three fantasy threads, and the AE discussion thread....all mainstays on the front page. All the other irregular common topics like team threads, division threads, hayne thread, stadium or relocation threads, etc, moving into then out of the front page as stuff happens. But for the majority of time.....there'd be only about 10 threads always sitting in the front page.

And...because we have thread tags (which are like cleverly done sub-boards), all you have to do is click on a thread tag to "create" a sub-board of just those types of threads, and more easily locate a specific thread. Example....say the Colts team thread is buried on page 5. To find it, just click TEAMS thread tag, you only see all 32 team threads, scroll down to the Colts thread, easy to find, post what you want in there. And that Colts thread might sit on the front page for a few days before it goes back down.

Not really a problem at all. Think the board is extremely well organized.

If that's the option. 32 + 8 easy.

Im some situations, merging is sheer stupidity. AFC West and NFC East threads will just degenerate and become complete and utter tripe.

Some like the AFC East will just be awkward as it'll still be a Patriots fapfest and the others will feel uncomfortable entering

Then I see some divisions like NFC North and NFC South where it would actually work.

Then some like the AFC South which will just stay as boring as it is now.

ANyway, I can see most sticking to their team threads anyway for news, so these new 8 threads could naturally die off anyway.

So a 32 + 8 vote might just turn into a 32 vote anyway :p

The AFC West and NFC East team threads are already all tripe.
The Patriots fapfest....at least in a merged AFC East thread, you'd get dolphins/jets/bills fans engaging all the pats fans. There's hardly anyone of their own teams to engage them in conversation in their team threads.

tripe in different ways.
And you think Jets/Dolphin/Bills fans would enter into the fepfest?
:/

Being quoted and responded to in a thread is what makes people return to a thread, want to visit it to read other discussions/meltdowns between other people. So an AFC East division thread would be better than four separate team threads. No one even really engages each other in the other team threads. So regardless of the subject matter....there'd be more activity just due to there being more engagement. Also, this is an Australian forum....so everyone really gets along well, people all still learning and embracing the game, and there's no real animosity like AFL team boards.

Really can't be f***** clicking on 32 threads for bits of news, far easier and less likely to miss news on 8 div boards. Plus there's quite a few teams with only a couple of fans, so it really does advantage all the bandwagoners on here who follow the 'popular' clubs which lets face it, are 90%+ of posters.
