Just wondering what the average bigfootarian's typing ability is.

It would have to be with less than 5% errors as well, anyone can type 400 words per minute if it doesn't make sense!!

Yeah, same here, but starting to look less and less at the keys which is good. Can't read and type at the same time all that well but hopefully will improve too.:)

I was last tested in June of this year - 82wpm with 99% accuracy touch typing.

Mind you that is typing from text. I find when simply typing from thoughts that I am no where near as accurate.

My typing speed is around about 40wpm, but with 100% accuracy! And I have to look at the keys...oh well, fortunately I have a secretary at work (otherwise I'd never meet my deadlines :) )

But when you type of the top of your head, you are usually a lot quicker, well, I find that I am as I don't have to look down to read anything. I would probably be 65+ when I just type stuff from my head!! 82 is bloody fast, but why is there a 1% error margin. Just not good enough!:D ;)

Yeah Macca I think it is cause when I learnt to type - many many many years ago - we used those great old hulking heavy manual typewriters. And we simply typed from text.

Typing 'from my head' never really came into it for many many years, as I was always typing dictation, or from text.

Oh, you've brought back the horrible memories... subject was called "Keyboarding" (they didn't call it something normal like 'typing'). My teacher was Miss Koch - the subject was so bloody boring, I used to just watch the clock all lesson (no wonder I was so slow!)

Typing...

For me? About 65 words per minute when I have something to type in my brain... and the average would have to be about 50 per min. My worst is probably 30-40 words per min. :D Rarely make musta... err, mistakes, but you know if I make one when you see my posts edited, or just some little typos ;)
