But aker was something else too. Never forget watching him in his declining years chase a faster player the full length of the ground and drag him down htb.

Never quit - every time the other guy had to dodge hed make up a bit of ground

If i were a coach id play my players that clip soooo many times

anyone who puts black knows very little about football.

So you're saying anyone who puts the player who won a Brownlow, Norm Smith, 3 AA's and went 1st, 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the B&F across the period knows very little about football? Yeah okay champ.

He was the most decorated player both for his team and across the entire league during that period. Absolute superstar and best player in the competition.

Voss was 21 when he won it. He stared the year as a 20 year old

Just as an aside, Both Judd and Skilton were 20 when they won their first Brownlows - ie, still age 20 at end of H&A season.

However, I think Bunton may have been the youngest - he turned 20 during the year he won his first (let's be honest - if it's a Brownlow question, the answer is usually Bunton).

Might put a request to the stats guys..............

A long long time ago... but Dick Reynolds was 19y 87d at the end of the 1934 season. He therefore played half that season as an 18 year old. He won the first of his 3 Brownlows that year.
Other youngsters I know of were by end of their winning season...

1940 Des Fothergill 20y 47d
1936 Dennis Ryan 20y 57d
1931 Haydn Bunton 20y 69d
1959 Bob Skilton 20y 294d

Of recent times
Gavin Wanganeen was 20y 64d at the end of the 1993 season. He won the Brownlow playing most of the year as a 19 year old.

Probably the best long ranged handballer in the history of the AFL. I remembered a game where he had a handball that went at least 40m. There's also a video on youtube where Vossy kicked a set shot drop punt from 65-70m out that went through the goals at post height. That's extraordinary.
His long range hand passes and the booming drop punts are what I remember most aswell

Voss. Set the tone for his team as captain and was AFLPA best captain in every one of these seasons and a two time MVP. Would’ve likely have won the club BnF in all 3 flags years if not for injury in 02’.

I went with Black.

Voss was amazing, but Black just seemed to get the job done with no Fuss and sublime skill.

Similar to Hodge and Mitchell for us. Hodge will be remembered as a legend for his leadership and motivation, but Mitchell was the superior player.
