We often talk about the strongest premiership teams and how they'd go against each other in hypothetical match ups - but a topic never discussed is the strongest wooden spoon teams.

Which wooden spoon team do you rate as the strongest and why?

Carlton 2018 because they have so much experience in this position, they’ve made it their own. Don’t see any other team stripping them of this, although The Suns may mount a concerted challenge in 19.

Definitely not us from 07-08, probably the biggest shambles of that whole list!
08-09 you mean.

Our wooden spoon sides under Bailey were complete shambles but the 2013 side under Neeld was even worse despite not winning the wooden spoon.
I am actually Disappointed that Collingwoods 1999 team is the cut off point. The reason I said that was that 1998 was Brisbane and they made a prelim in 1999 and hen go the flag in 2001.

The 1997 wooden spooners was Melbourne and they Made that Prelim in 1998 and grand final in 2000. Crazy times under that neale Danihers coaching stint in that era. Finals one year outside the finals the next.

This would seem almost intuitively to be Essendon in 2016, quite simply due to its position being due to a large absence of players through ADRV suspensions.

That Essendon team was better than our 2013 side under neeld. You won 3 games with a percentage of 61%

We won 2 games with a percentage of 54% and one of our wins came after being 3 goals down at 3 quarter time against a GWS team who won 1 game for the season at home.

Strongest, as in shittest? i.e. the team who most "earned" the spoon?

Or strongest as in the best of a bad bunch?

Struggling with this thread, a strong wooden spoon side is a contradiction in terms. The GWS sides of 2012-2013 would have been easily the most valuable and talented list though.

Strongest wooden spoon side meaning the best team to win a wooden spoon.

Opposite of worst team to win a spoon, easy enough to comprehend I would've thought.

St Kilda 2014 weren’t that terrible were they?

Have to go them, although you can mount an argument for West Coast 2010. Was it 2000 Collingwood won their first five games and then struggled to win, getting over only St Kilda and North for the remainder of the season?

West Coast 2010 is the only wooden spooner I've ever tipped to make the 8 the next year...nothing amazing in that, because we all knew that last was not indicative of that team. No surprise they lead this poll...

2017 season was a weird one. I wish Brisbane in 2017 got one more win as they would of got 6 wins as well with 74.3. Suns were 17th with 76%, Carlton were 6th with 78.6% and North with 87.6%

I agree with the North fans on this. That 2017 North team lost a fair few close games by under a goal. That team Should of got 9 or 10 wins.

I had a swans mate that put $1000 on North early in the 2017 season at $17. he needed North to lose to Brisbane at the last game of the season. he would of won big that day had the result went his way!

He would have been spewing and I know from experience as I had something similar happen to me in 2016.
