Well done Pompey!

Scorer: Patrik Berger :D

GH speaking after the match:

'I can't say I was happy with the way we played,' admitted Houllier, 'but half our team are on the sidelines."

Tissue, Gerard?
Result doesn't surprise me one iota. Pompy are vastly underestimated whilst the 'POOL are definately overated !!

As long as Michael Owen is not playing for Liverpool I'll be happy if we get a draw against anyone. No chance as long as he isn't there.

Better make sure we win the UEFA Cup Gerard, it's the only way you will keep your job.

I won't be enough to save his job, if we are not seen as real contenders for the title.

Owen is yet to re-sign, and if he looks like he is going, after next year, the Board will have to look at seriously getting someone else in to keep him, and attract other world class players. Also have to keep the financiers for the stadium happy.

You can only rely on past glories for so long (except when you are Eddie and comparing Collingwood to ManYoo).

Hmmmm....Im at a loss. Without Owen we are pusseycats and with Owen we are still behind teams like Chelsea, Arsenal and Man U. Big, big problems at Liverpool this season, it's going to be a long and tough season.

Liverpool are shocking! If they do start winning any time soon they might scrape UEFA cup (again) but let's be honest here does anyone other than actual Liverpool fans not enjoy this? I'm loving it!

Thanks SB!!

But even you'll agree that it is a sad state of affairs when a ManYoo supporter has to come to Liverpool's defence (even if it is while having a crack at Leeds).

It was reported yesterday that Liverpool are already looking at signings for next summer as requested by Houllier which indicates that he is safe until next season at the very least.

Stability is all very well but I think we need to see out this season and then re-assess

A lot could happen from here but I don't think anyone has a guarantee of a job in this business.

By the way, I don't think anyone thought Kewell would be the saviour but certainly he has been a very handy editionand done pretty well in an underperforming team.

Yeah, Kewell has probably being our best performer along with Owen this year.

I reckon he is getting pretty close to brink GH - we are 9th! A bad loss to Man U could be the final straw.

Houllier should have been sacked at the end of last season. He had the window trading period last year and the whole off season to assemble the squad he wanted. He even generously loaned out Babbel and Mellor but remains ever faithful to Heskey.

The time has well and truly come for Houllier to step down.

Luckily we got Harry Kewell as he has been the shining light this year.

Our defence is a bit slow and lethargic. We also need a striker who scores goals. Look at Chelsea who recruited Mutu and Crespo. Compare them to Heskey and then see why Liverpool go scoreless in so many games.

The problem is he hasnt spent enough money to buy quality players with the exception of Kewell.

Liverpool needs to get back in the Champions League and the only way to do that is to buy quality.
