Talk of Maxwell getting picked. This would want to be false
He fits the bill for recent selections - mid 20s, first class average of 40, no significant achievements

Just to refresh my memory, is this the guy who said he was going to be the T20 "X Factor" and has a batting average of 13 and 2 wickets at 45?

Our top order isn't good enough to bring a guy like Maxwell in. It would be a crazy selection. He is an all rounder not a pure batsmen.

Surely Usman gets another go. Has decent domestic form and is only 25. Cant see the point in picking anyone 28+ at this point in time. Hughes is an opener and at worst a #3 which would mean Watson would have to move to #6 so thats why I'd go with Usman over Hughes

watson moving to number 6 is a plus though
How? I dont know his stats at 6 at the top of my head but I dont think its as good as it is opening. We have a side full of openers and no proper middle order batsmen. I'd rather pick someone who is a known middle order batsmen rather than re-shuffle everyone. Hussey should be the exception and not the rule when it comes to an opener being re-modelled into a middle order batsmen, he is Mr Cricket after all

I don't have a real problem with a few minor shuffles in the order, given the top order isn't really functioning anyway.
Watson is an all-rounder who was moulded to open, not a natural opener and should be able to slot back into #6. There is every chance Khawaja could come in for him at some point anyway, should he fail against Sri Lanka.

Is the series in India going ahead? Its on the FTP for early 2013, but I haven't any schedule for it and the FTP is treated more as a reccomendation than a schedule by a lot of countries.

Healy wants to move Clarke up the order, does he read bigfooty?! Such a stupid call.

He is the leading run scorer in the world this year, why move? If it isn't broken, don't fix it.

Clarke might not be broke but our batting lineup is. Clarke moved up to 4 once before but he was in dreadful form. The time is right to have another crack at 4.

It is broken. He's coming in far too early with all wickets falling ahead of him so quickly so it's not like he's playing a true N.5 role anyway. If he's in such good form batting one or two up won't impact him and more importantly should take pressure off some of the less experienced types trying to settle in the side around him.

Not to mention it makes a statement to the rest of the comp that he's willing to do what needs to be done to carry this team over the line.

I don't care what Watson's stats in the past may have been I think it would help his batting and his bowling coming in lower down the order at 6. I would much rather a #6 get 30-50 runs than an opener or number 3.

How I'd like them to lineup against Sri Lanka:

Cowan
Warner
Hughes/Khawaja
Clarke
Hussey
Watson

Also, I'd like to see Warner ****ed off out of the Test team as soon as possible. He can't play Test matches, doesn't have the temperament of technique to hang in there and a quick-fire century once a season is not enough. Cowan at least bats within himself, recognises his weakness and tries to make sure his wicket doesn't go cheaply. Warner is always going to be a liability

Watto's stats for his last two years or so in the top order are dismal.

I just think 3/4 is a cop out. You either bat Watson where he wants (opening), or you shift him to 5/6 and really give him a rest and all that sort of stuff. Plus down at 6 you don't need to convert your starts into 100's as much as in the top 4

on the downside, at 5/6 more spin + field spreads quicker, to cut off his driving and slashes
