NYC and LA were meh. Amsterdam was too touristy.

You're entitled to your opinion but I just don't understand how someone could think that New York was "meh".

Yeah L.A was meh.

On SM-G925I using BigFooty.com mobile app
Loved Santa Monica the first couple of times but when I went back about 2 & 1/2 years ago I found it a bit meh.

Hollywood is a dive

Stayed outside LA in San Clemente and Temecula (near the wineries) both were really nice and would go back again

Las Vegas.

Granted, I went there alone, in July, had to limit my spending, and was there specifically for an event related to my sports autograph collecting projects so I was focused on that first. But being in the middle of the desert in the middle of summer, hobbling around on an ankle that I had re-sprained the day before wasn't exactly fun. Maybe If I had put aside a couple hundred dollars to get into some cheapo poker tournaments, and more time to see a show or two, or had my wife and/or friends with me it would have been more fun. But I just didn't see the appeal to it.

The event I was there for was good at least.
Yeah, I don't get the Vegas thing. Casinos, clubs, booze and parties. We have that here in Oz.

That's pretty much the case for any pub, club or casino. The things you do in Vegas can be done in almost every city in the world.

I doubt many would make the effort to fly all the way from Australia and just go to Vegas. From within North America though, it’s a cheap sunny destination to go party for a couple of days. Or catch a show, watch Raiders, Golden Knights etc.

An aside, is anyone here starting to contemplate overseas travel for this time next year, or is the feeling that we will be waiting longer?

I would love to but with 3 os trips curtailed in the last 2 years I don't have it in me to be disappointed again.

As for OS travel in 2022…it may be possible to certain places, but there will still be strict measures in place on your return to Australia. My guess anyway.

I used to think it's over rated. But the more I think about it. The issue is it's overpriced. And if you go to New York on a budget (which I did) I believe you wont enjoy the city. But go with a higher budget and you start to get experiences which you wont get elsewhere in the world (where I've been - So sorry Tokyo if you're better)

My memories have been soured because of it being overpriced. I think I'll give it a go in the future with a higher budget (or no budget at all)

Melbourne though - That's a destination that is crap. Good for sport. But if you're not into sport? You can do everything anywhere else in Australia. May as well go to Sydney or Brisbane and get what Melbourne offers but better.

I cancelled 4 trips already due to the pandemic

1 - USA sporting - Well, the events went ahead, but no crowds..........And couldnt get there, ah well
2 - Middle East Cruise - Technically postponed
3 - New Zealand - FLights got booked, but everything else just became a hassle so changed it to...
4 - Fiji - Had everything ready, but then Omicron hit and the stupid South Australian government kept changing rules too frequently. In hingsight, due to my vaccination status, I would've been fine to do it...........But I only found that out the day I was meant to depart.

I have rebooked the Middle East cruise from Nov 21 to Dec 22. 3 nights in Doha during the World Cup. Already got my hospitality ticket to 1 of the quarter final matches :D

Nahhhhh.

The MCG is one of the best sporting venues in the world even just for a historic tour and many of the sporting events transcend sport (F1 and Tennis come to mind as more "events" than sports).

Plus our nightlife and arts precinct are superior to every other major city in Oz (Arts maaaaaaaybe Sydney but its a stretch).

I enjoyed NYC but plenty of people said it was the greatest city on Earth, i found it to be a slight upgrade on Melbourne without sports.

I found this funny. I live in brisbane. To say there is anything here that is as good, let alone better then memlbourne Is just completely ridiculous.

and sydney is a nanny state hovel whose entertainment precincts are all 80 years out of date.

The winter weather in QLD is mint.

Did laugh at that post too, Melbourne has a lot of annoyances as a resident, but there's still a ton of things to do, it's an awesome city.

Whats Egypt like for westerners? Areas you should and shouldn't go to?

I was always interested in seeing the pyramids until a few months ago, I watched some youtube videos of peoples experiences and I'm not sure I'll bother anymore.

Seems like the kind of place you need to be apart of a tour group.

I cop s**t for this a bit cause its a pretty unpopular opinion but the Vatican City was really meh but it also looks like a tour guide sort of set up and its not really.

I feel like youre always better to do your own thing rather than do a group.

It depends what you're into. I would rate Cairns more highly than Melbourne.
