When I have time I will respond properly to your post...

good, would make a nice change.

I will address your last point,

i wasn't making a point at all; just something on-topic and current.

It's this very kind of "expertise" that is seen is fraudulent. Why are you doubling down on it?

the only thing im 'doubling down' on is asking you to provide something other than assertion to support your point of view. thought we were having a reasonable discussion, but if you wanna be a twat about it go right ahead :thumbsu:

Lol. For someone who is incapable of thinking for himself, you do a good job of being smug.

and you do a great job of spitting rhetoric devoid of supporting data.
Ah yeah, did you read the Case Deaton study? Or further speeches by Angus Deaton about the decline of the US middle class.

Point me to more liberal talking point generators like PBS or NBR. Maybe follow up with a New Yorker article that bulks up your article with more glib superficial facts.

lol, losing that temper again!

everyone knows about the decline of the US middle class. however, i've been asking you to illustrate how that has occurred only due to free trade, and how said trade has provided benefits only to the rich.

haha, if a measured outlet like PBS is denounced in such a fashion, where exactly is the media that's good enough for you, sproketman? maybe the socialist worker? :drunk: christ, PBS are practically communists by US standards.

eta-
but it is obvious you are so invested in your received wisdom you can't think outside what you already know.

ironically, FYI i was actually after a discussion that could challenge that "received wisdom".

To suggest that all the people in those fields

- are liars
- are frauds
- constitute a net negative (or a "drain") to some nebulous contribution to society
- could be replaced by any untrained ignoramus exercising "common sense"
- generally adhere to some "dogma", ie some incontrovertibly true and unchangeable set of principles
- exercise a dysfunctional profession
- possess no coherent body of knowledge

is, at one and the same time

- utterly, profoundly ignorant
- a classic example of the Common Sense Fallacy, among other logical errors
- an extreme drain on and net negative to society in its waste of virtual space, and
- nothing more than emotionally gratifying noise.

And I bid you good day, sir.
The legal profession is dysfunctional
And self serving

That's true but what is the alternative? It's an easy think to say

Let's first demystify it and then secularize and simplify it. We absolutely need a justice system but we are stuck with so much case history, poorly formed and written legislation, and a procedural system which enables the wealthy to prolong virtually indefinitely.

This is recognized in the industry and there are constant attempts to improve it but they fail and largely only make matters worse.

And it is the widespread respect and deference to this Byzantine monstrosity which prevents the necessary scrutiny and public will to force real improvement.

And yet you support Trump.

Go figure.
Could you be anymore triggered?
Take blue pill and have a nap. This has nt even been a talking point in the USA by Trump or anyone.

Any random subject you bring back to Trump! To call it infantile is too kind.

Please take better care of yourself

You say this from what state of knowledge? the issue is not lawyers per se but access to justice - it's very easy to say simplify the law until you have to try and redraft it - if access was less expensive then the result would be better.

Your position on experts is very post modern - why trust people with actual expertise in an area. Next time
I have an operation I will ask you to do it - you seem to know better than anybody else on everything - probably surgery as well

Don't use the word triggered if you want to be taken seriously.

This way you are insufferably stupid
I provided two lists
Experts of real knowledge which included doctors engineers scientist mathematicians trades people etc etc
And a list of professions entirely based on a knowledge which is not provable but fundamentally transitory

Making distinctions is the first step to intelligence

Your advocating we stop making distinctions.

Fool

And it's no in the least bit post modern
I am advocating these areas should be the province of us all
Not that they are invalid.

A) keep it civil

B) accounting is fundamentally transitory?

Trump ignores doctors on vaccinations and supports anti vaxers
Trump ignores scientists on climate change
Trump ignores engineers on how much it costs to build a wall.

He ignores all experts because they disagree with his uneducated views.

Oh and this concept of real knowledge based jobs has been ever since the industrial revolution and based on nothing.

300 years ago making stuff wasnt real work because it didn't involve working the land and producing food.

150 years ago working as part of an assembly line in factories wasn't real work because real work involved producing goods from start to finish with your own hands.

100 years ago any service related job wasn't real work because machines and stuff came from factory assembling lines.

And now real work comes from services which utilise empirical evidence from physics, chemistry or biology. Anything related to the social sciences that relies on logic only ain't real work.

Do you get the picture?

Transitory? Public officials? Teachers? Lawyers? Politicians?

This is the typical blue collar fetishism which is just resentment for not being intelligent.

This describes a journalist to you?
A publicist?
A lawyer?
An tax accountant?

All this knowledge is keeping with culture and economic changes
There is no fixed body of knowledge
There is history which can be interpreted one way or another

And there is culture which god alone could intrepret accurately
