Club History Port 150 documentary

For a minute or two I forgot the complete shiteshow the world is at the moment.

Watched it with my youngest saying I was at that game. I was at that game.

Loved that bit about the creed.

"Finally, we concede that there can be honour in defeat, but to each of us, honourable defeat of our Club and guernsey can come only after human endeavour on the playing field is completely exhausted."

heck Gerard and his ilk. We understand. We are that club. Live those words boys and you will climb that mountain.

I was expecting to see Cometti in it giving the jumper another plug.

I would have liked more scull duggery by the sanfl exposed.

Ken Burns would make a tremendous 15 part episode on our great club.

A good documentary though and relived great moments of my life.

We need to return to being that club
... and with the bars!!!

It was pretty good probably because of minimal Koch

Was great to see tribute paid not only to the champions like Fos, Russell, Quinn etc but also those ones who did heavy lifting off the field and are easily forgotten. Weber, Duncanson, Boulton, &c.,

Also, Greg Anderson. Sort out your hair man, it's not 1988 anymore

And when you do live that creed you will feel supported like you have never felt before. You will have a rabid army at your backs.

They are making another doco for he Adelaide Film Festival so I think he is in that one, which might spread well past the state's borders.

What did I get out of that doco?

Threw everything at getting into the AFL and there were casualties and that took its toll.

Threw everything at that first premiership in the AFL and there were casualties and that took its toll.

Threw everything at getting out of the clutches of SANFL and Footy Park and move AFL to AO and there were casualties and that took its toll.

Have thrown a bloody lot at China and that is looking good, despite this years backward step, but apart from KT and a couple of others, there are no real casualties and it hasn't taken its toll.

We now need to have the club run by and directed by people who can take advantage of all this hard work. They won't be casualties like the others, if they are good enough, because now all the big shackles have been released.

I wish I was a young adult in the 90s so I could have seen those flags and lived through the journey to the AFL.

My earliest memories was 2002-04 as a kid and I didn't understand the full story either.

The 2004 flag was the pinnacle, but doing it again at the top level while wearing the Prison Bars I seriously think would top that. That would be a massive landmark in the clubs history.

Not only do we have (footballing) battles on and (political battles) off the field that we need to win to make that happen, but the shape the club is in being grossly underfunded (the corona virus will cut deep too) makes it a mammoth task to not only survive, but to prosper and reach the top of the footballing world again.

Brilliant. Ripper production.
Have to admit to getting teary eyed a few times (Anthony Williams, 2004 flag, etc).

If I had one small criticism, it would be that it began with the mighty Bob Quinn era. Would have liked to have seen a bit leading up to that about the Foundation era, and the 1901 to 1916 time span, where we never finished lower than 3rd and played in 12 or 13 GF's, three times Champs of Aust, had the legendary Invincibles, etc. Also the end of that period saw Roy Drummond win premiership and CoA medals, be a part of that unbeatable team, plus pocket a lazy Military Medal during WW1.

Well done all.

There is no pinnacle for the PAFC.

Continual and neverending success is the goal. You never get there. You should always be hungry for more.

Having said that winning and AFL flag as one club in the prison bars would be the epic.

They are making another doco for he Adelaide Film Festival so I think a lot of early stuff will be covered in that.

They have to make the two docos different to keep people interested, especially one where people have to pay to watch it.

Haters and deniers will be frothing at the mouth over this. Can see it now.

"Bloody Port. Self entitled whingers". "What have they ever done for SA footy". "What a back slapping love-in for such a mediocre club". Yada yada yada................

By pinnacle, I meant the highest point of achievement up until this point, it can get higher in the future.

KG throwing his elbows out at fresh air, the imaginary hordes trying to jostle him. How we laughed. :D

I'm part way in watching via https://7plus.com.au/onward-to-victory and on the second bottle and %^*& me, I hope our last few years' draftees can absorb a bit of this so that new chapters are written. I've never seen the Mead kick before, or heard the full story of Quinn's leg. And how many more recent moments was I there for, from 1979 on ??? This club, this bloody club!! Not sure if this edit will cover 1914 but it needs to be in there too.

edit: well Geoff Motley has mellowed with age from some previous interviews I've seen with him haha

That win against Norwood in 88. Still makes me tear up. Was the making of modern day Port Adelaide
