One thing that stands out every time the culture and success of the club in the SANFL is brought up is the way players come up from the juniors and the culture of the club kind of self-perpetuating as a result.

Leaving a separate Port Adelaide in the SANFL after 1996 continues to baffle me as someone who wasn't around then. Catastrophic mistake. Extremely confusing and unnecessary.

Forced on us by the SANFL. Didn't want Port to join the AFL, didn't want us to leave the SANFL. Just want to quietly bleed us out of sight, without acknowledging we exist.

... and SANFL/AFC ambassadors started the ‘not the real Port’ campaign soon after. I seem to recall it first after that first Showdown... 😂

“It’s the Magpies’ 150th Year!”

- “Port didn’t become the Magpies until their 32nd year though?”

“...”

I would pay some good coin for one of those Adidas Originals jackets from the early 90s footage.

This stuff has gotta be around somewhere.
Sitting at the bottom of a trunk in someone's shed.
Haven't stumbled across any in markets or second-hand stores and shit yet.
But one day...

Y’all got any more of them crouching silver Port jacket pics?

The documentary did a good job of starting to expose the behaviour of the SANFL upon this. But it only scratched the surface.

One omission was the failure to interview Mark Haysman. He was the first to really take the SANFL to task about the unfair nature of the deal with Football Park. He was a SANFL “plant” who took his corporate responsibility to Port seriously. His role in the turnaround should not be forgotten.

You mean like this?

This is legit my Tinder pic at the moment, sans Kylo Ren mask.

"Hi-yo Silver!" was my fall-back option, tho. Because George didn't have the bomber jacket (circa '94/95) in stock at Port Sports. Said he he could get me one in a few weeks. But I was leaving for London in a few days.

First time I ever wore it was to a Millwall v Middlesborough match at The New Den. Hooligans of all kinds, all shapes and sizes, all with extensive criminal records, were walking through the turnstiles... but I got bailed up by security. They were dicks about it, too.

"WTF was that about?" I asked my cockney cousin.
"Wot you expect," he said. "Wearing that f@%king jacket?"

Back in '95, I was so disappointed I didn't get the bomber but now I'm so glad I didn't...

tim ginever should be our coach
I love how he changes when he talks about Port winning culture. He seems a laid back easy going light hearted guy most of the time, but when that comes up, he gets serious. His eyes change. His demeanour changes. He's not joking and you'd be on thin ice to make a joke about it.

Compare that to Hinkley, have fun, someone has to lose, hahaha, Boaky Westy Robbie the boys good times, best win ever.

Watching it myself, sent it to the lads back home. Hopefully the link works over there.

heck, any Hinkley apologists watching that and still don’t think he should be skewered and toasted are just lying to themselves!

We’ve won **** all being nice to the primaddonas. Time to turn up the heat.
