Club History Port 150 documentary

Watched the last third of it this morning, i.e. the Geelong and Richmond finals of last year and interviews with Brad Ebert.

It really has got me asking the question, where is the evidence of the fire in the belly to make up for last year.
We owe a lot of people a premiership now, from our #35 to his best mate Brad, from Westy to the evergreens Boak and Gray.

Sure we are 8-3 and in a good position, but we need to fire up from now on.
2021 has to be our year.

I thought the Koch’s interaction with Pauly was a bit cringe. He looked like he’d been put on the spot or that they’d just asked him these same questions minutes prior. Their gushing felt... inauthentic.

Other than that I enjoyed it. I did stop before the PF though. Not keen on reliving that.

I was enjoying the greyscale because I thought they would transition to colour as the history went through to us entering the afl, then they just kept it greyscale was disappointed lol we over do the greyscale on a lot of our stuff.

I was expecting colour when we joined the AFL, then when we won the 04 flag, but it wasn't to be.

I think you're giving them way to much credit, I think it is them trying to be way to artie and failing

I heard the director say it herself, right to my face....it was because the colour changes were jarring when they were jumping back and forth, so they left it all in B and W.

One thing that I think lets down some Port media it's only ever the good stuff that's shown, like maybe it's a bit too self-congratulatory. It's never significantly contrasted with any low points/times of upheaval (6 GF losses in a row, failed bid in 1990, on-field failures our AFL era, off-field crisis in 08-12 & One Club). I think the contrast with adversity would do a lot to elevate the volume of success and history the club has. It would certainly make it more interesting from a dramatic POV.

To me what this and Onward to Victory show is that the significant Port Adelaide stories would be worth doing their own 30-60 minute docos on rather than trying to cram everything in. There's a lot of detail in these broader films that is left out and left me kind of unsatisfied. Like if it's for Port people it should be more in depth but if it's for a general audience it shouldn't just be 'how great are we?'.

It just creates a level playing field with varying B+W and colour footage, nothing more too it i'd say.

I don't know about the subsequent episodes, but the original 30 episodes starting in late 2009 and aired thru all of 2010, the producers picked 30 different filmmakers and asked them to pick a story that they were interested in, was big news when it happened, but faded away and became relatively obscure and forgotten.

We would have to find the right film maker. Is Rolf de Heer a Port fan?
