Wtf, why?

Hire the best coach who will win us a flag. I don't give a sh*t if they are male, female or non-binary as long as they win us premierships.
We don't do that with the men's team, why would the women's team be any different?

Announcement at midday.

...the Herald Sun understands the AFL will make the declaration that every team will have its own women’s side for a 2022-23 competition that will start at the end of next year.

Port Adelaide chief executive Matthew Richardson thanked the Port Adelaide community for their support and reinforced that the club was well advanced with its planning.

“Since we announced last month that we were formally submitting an application to enter the AFLW, our members and supporters have been incredibly supportive, with more than 4000 registering for AFLW memberships,” said Mr Richardson.

“The re-development of Alberton Oval is underway, having secured the funding required to upgrade the player changerooms in the Fos Williams Family Stand at Alberton to provide state-of-the-art facilities for our female athletes. We expect this first phase of our development to be completed well in advance of our AFLW squad being assembled.

“In the coming weeks we’ll make some significant appointments, starting with the recruitment of our first AFLW Head of Football.

“And from a commercial perspective we are delighted to confirm that Santos will be joining our other Joint Major Partners as a major partner of our AFLW team. As a proudly Australian company, Santos have had a long-term relationship with the club through the Santos Aboriginal Power Cup and we are thrilled they will continue their journey with Port Adelaide as we enter the AFLW competition. Along with Santos we will be making further announcements of partners of our AFLW program in the coming weeks.”

Well done to those involved, particularly Holly. Getting an a team into the an 18 team comp is a spectacular achievement.
The upside is that we have had to consider and plan a bit more than we would have if we thought it was a totally foregone conclusion.

I am looking forward to summer footy at Alberton and having it on national TV, will help with the impression we are not a new club.

Brilliant news!
Now let's roll out those PB kits for the girls and get a pic of the Academy players in them, then tell Gil this is what we will be wearing, before Eddie sticks his fat ugly nose in and says "Whoah. Hang on!".

So much this. Especially the bit about "tell". Have the clash strip all sorted so when the entitled flogs start flapping, we've got it all covered.

Nah it has the old logo and sponsors, is at least a couple of years old. Will take out my foundation membership as soon as the Bars are confirmed...
The home BiB jumper is being used for all promo work.

It says "academies" on the guernsey. And given that we just announced that we are getting a team, I assume it is safe to say that we haven't announced a guernsey yet.
