After all the shit we've been through, culminating in that disgusting effort against Essendon at the end of last season, and THIS is what gets people upset and declaring we are no longer Port Adelaide. This forum never ceases to surprise me.

I'm on record as not being really bothered by this, we definitely needed something changed with our onfield leadership and this doesn't break a tradition I'd ever heard about until this thread, unless neither of them wear number 1.

While I personally think this is a strange hill to die on, I don't have an issue with people boycotting games because there aren't any other meaningful ways to send a message.

We've become a pretty poor football club but I don't believe co-captains = bad.

I look forward to the well-reasoned and well-constructed argument from the club tomorrow on the distinct advantages that co-captains bring to making the club successful over our traditional arrangements.

Given the opposition from the fanbase, the club will no doubt want to show respect to the members by clearly explaining their reasoning as to why this change is better.

I haven’t really commented on this, but I think both Wines and Jonas are fine leaders, I’m actually torn as to who I’d prefer to be captain, I’ll trust the call made here, but if we miss the finals yet again, heads should roll

I still haven’t recovered from the failsplaining that went on after Freogate.

Anyone who couldn’t see our season ended that evening needed a good haunting from Fred Hollows to fix their kentaracts.

Yeah I'm with the angry brigade this one, Port should just announce Ollie Wines as captain and Tom Jones as vice captain then let them play the role as co captains silently without telling us, that way they can in essence have co captains and also not break the tradition

Family day has always, for me, marked the start of the football season and even in our darkest days I was always optimistic and pumped up for the season ahead. As a member since 1997 I'm as rusted on as you can get and love this football club. Yet somehow this club has also sucked the life out of me over the past 12-18 months. I'll go to all home games as usual but with absolutely no enthusiasm. Thanks for killing my love of football Ports.

I’m just confused as to whether this decision was actually made months ago, or if they ended at it this week?

Very odd to just wait to announce like this, and allow people to get more and more pissed off about it.
It wasn't made a long time ago

Well perhaps we will have a proper Magpies team in the SANFL once the National Reserves comp comes into being in 2020. Then whoever is really pissed off with losing all our tradition can follow the SANFL real Magpies again? We were always going to have to give up a great deal to join the AFL with the SANFL and the Vics calling the shots. Those who are still happy with Port Adelaide Power can continue to follow the AFL team. Win win?

Not sure.
Can definitely understand why folks are peeved off.

On a positive note though, we have two ripping fellas to lead the boys.
If they're such ripping fellas, couldn't the more ripping of the two have been selected as sole captain, with the other to be vice?
