Co-Captains; An in depth discussion
Cons:
We've got a rich tradition of singular captians
To change this flies in the face of the general consensus
No real historical evidence to correlate co-captains will lead to success
With larger leadership groups, a singular role can still have a strong support team
Who will wear number 1?
We really want one player to grab hold and lead this group

Pros:
Sidney does it? And they won it once I remember

All in all, the sky's not going to fall in and this is just lukewarm vomit blerrgh

I expect in 202x we'll have a number 1 solitary captain under a new regime and this situation will be looked back at in the same way we acknowledge Planet Teal, Tarps and Skype coach whatshisname

"We, the Players and Management of the Port Adelaide Football Club, accept the heritage which players and administrators have passed down to us; in so doing we do not intend to rest in idleness but shall strive with all our power to further this Club's unexcelled achievements.

To do this we believe there is great merit and noble achievements in winning a premiership.

To be successful, each of us must be active, aggressive and devoted to this cause. We agree that success is well within our reach and have confidence that each member of both the team and management will suffer personal sacrifices for the common end.

Also we know that, should we after striving to our utmost and giving our everything, still not be successful, our efforts will become a further part of this Club's enviable tradition.

Finally, we concede that there can be honour in defeat, but to each of us, honourable defeat of our Club and guernsey can come only after human endeavour on the playing field is completely exhausted."

Fos Williams

Refer the section in bold.

This administration are disgracing the heritage our club and the man who fiercely enforced having one captain who wears 1.

This seems appropriate.
But seriously if we suck it up this year with the same boring shit as 2018 then Ken and co will leave this club in the same state they found it.
Haven't been this disinterested since 2012. View attachment 622676

I'm not fan of co-captains at all, but the way they've ****** about with this...
They could have just come out and announced this weeks ago. I'd be annoyed at it, but I'd move on.

But they have just been so piss weak about this and let it drag on while they try to justify it.
Now it's the obvious has been leaked a day before anyway. This club is run by cowards.
I'm actually not that fussed with the co captains.

It pisses me off that they have been so weak making the decision.

It pisses me off much more that they didn't see fit to tell the members at a so called insiders event but then they are fine with leaking it to the media.

I am annoyed but I will get over it.

We need some new blood in the football department though. Ken and Keith need to be gone if this season ends in total capitulation yet again.

Yeah good idea if you actively want to be mocked by the greater footballing community. You think the media or opposition supporters would recognise or give a shit about some people not wanting co-captains?
Absolutely, when ever NTUA isn't going well, loud and proud, it makes us look stupid.

It's a fair bit different to the tingles mindset. They've gone with co-captains because Taylor doesn't have the brain power, vocabulary or football ability to be a standalone skipper. Co-captains are generally named together not usually done when one isn't up to it and he needs propping. But hey let the customers believe what they want too, makes sweet **** all difference to me.
They've gone with co-captains because none of the players other than the Crouch's like Walker, Sloane was the obvious choice from the start, and demoting Walker would be a bit of a PR nightmare.

Hey presto! Co-captains.

Obviously no serious Port supporter is going to hand in their membership or boycott games. But this total lack of respect for the overwhelming opinion of the members cannot stand. If they could give us a valid reason as to how it actually can make us more competitive they would have by now. It needs to be made very clear to the board that we are not willing to take this s**t. Anyone got any good suggestions? (serious please)
