Will we still exist in the AFL in 2011? Might be too late for us...

Seems like we could save everyone some money and heartache and just hand our licence back to the SANFL / AFL and say "thanks, we tried, we won a flag but now we're f*%cked!"

with the PAFC i am at a loss to what we are doing or what has been done...

surely its time for someone to speak up changes be made etc etc to make things better or to fix things that shouldnt be band-aided up...

Its supposed to be Williams thats in control of the team but we all know he wont make the tough calls..Enough is Enough...

Each time i think we have hit rock bottom we just seem to fall lower and lower....when will the madness end...

so a couple of average years and we give up? lol I'd hate to see what the reaction would be god forbid either of the Adelaide clubs go through the crap the WA clubs have had the last few years, seriously ffs mid table with a green as list with media rumours inventing most of the issues this year, take a step back it's not that bad. Now is the perfect time to **** off anyone who doesnt want to be here and **** them off while playing hardball, it sends a message and I doubt there'll be too many of the young guys not waving goodbye as there's spots opening up for the desperate guys and thats what we want back, the desperation to play for Port.

That sort of defeatest attitude is more suited to the other pleb clubs.

In reality;

We had a slightly below par year - but to be honest who cares. It's first or nothing in my book, we were never going to win the flag so it's irrelevant.
We are losing one player - with the possibility of gaining others and potentially solving some of our on field issues
We have attendance issues - yeah, this is a hard one.

Nothing unsolvable. I have the utmost faith that the Port Adelaide FC's biggest strengths - tradition, solid football values and people power will not only see us move through this period but once again flourish.

If anything I have been impressed with how many of my off field issues have been addressed this year.

Glass half full people.

Mate I know you are down and we are all disappointed but that is a load of tripe. I'll let someone with a bit more time talk you through 1983 and some more recent trials and tribulations of this great and very proud football club.

It hasn't always been easy and nor should it be, thats what makes victory all the sweeter.

We will still exist in 2011 because the AFL require two AFL clubs in Adelaide. If we are struggling who do you think they can replace us with that would do any better. The AFL will keep us alive even as a basket case.

The only silver lining I can see to our spiralling downwards is that the AFL may finally lose patients with the parasites at the SANFL and take control of our AFL licence from them.

Also we are at our best when we are down with backs against the walls, you don't think all this crap is going to be a motivation over summer? like after 06 and everyone told us we were ****ed and we came out with a point to prove all 07... Unfortunately we need to move people on to get us out of the funk to get new people in and refresh the group, it's been the same group without really any core changes for so long now that's it's stale. I'm looking forward to the new guys coming in and really bringing some intent back

We are not in a crisis, but we are at a crossroad and it will require some strong people to step up and show real skill and leadership in many areas of the club's actvities. I am confident that some of this is happening behind the scenes and that some positive announcements will be made in the short term.

We have been in similar positions before and we have obviously recovered and gone on to more ultimate success.

Will we fold or get kicked out of the AFL? - No.

For me the glass is still half full.

I agree nothing is unsolveable, and glass half full etc etc, ....

But when it comes to it, which off-field issues have we actually solved this year ? This is part of my issue at the moment, the club has benn put out to ridicule for the state its in (finances, coach, player infighting etc) but not a single one of these issues seems any closer to being resolved as yet.... and as supporters we are screaming out for some positive news.

Sadly that is no longer true of the PAFC. We have a board with no balls, a coaching group comfortable with mediocrity and a playing group that mostly couldn't give a rats.

We heard all thru' the pre-season how much better we were going to be in 2009 after a woeful 2008 only to see even more embarrassing performances.

As supporters though we need to hang tough thru' the bad times.

I dunno Powerade, we've lost a guy who looked disinterested in half the games and didn't stand up in most of the ones when we needed him to plus that's when he's been on the park. I'm probably really not going to miss him especially if we get some good young guys back.

Off field we moved to reduce our debt with the cash from the SANFL, restructured, came up with new plans that we are pushing the SANFL on for the stadium agreement and teh new leadership forced the SANFL's hand by going public don't mistake that was deliberate and we have a new major sponsorship announcement coming over summer I'm pretty sure.

To put it in perspective we blooded another group of promising guys this year, our list is young and our team is still relatively inexperienced, it's unfortunate we are in a 2 team town as the media loves a villan, if we were in Vic the media wouldn't be so negative.

I think it's a bit of a positive for us to lose Burgoyne and cull Pierre and hopefully a couple of others later on because the group got stale, the new guys we bring it will put pressure on spots and increase competition and are hopefully desperate to prove their old club wrong as to why they were traded or not wanted. For the same reason I think we should have moved the coach on to, 10 years is enough and the message has also gone stale with the seniors but with less of them around now and more new guys it should get through.

I'm not a fan of his either, but he had great talent and we can't just stick Lower, Davenport or Logan into the middle and pretend nothing ever happened.

And some people call our players soft.

Did any of you survive the 90/91 recession, then the whole decade of State Bank malaise? The 87 stock market crash? The 82/83 recession? The 79 recession thanks to 2nd oil shock? The 73/74 recession - oil prices quadrupled in 6 months? The Vietnam war? The 1961 recession? The Korean war and the resultant recession? The Cold War?

I think its time for some people to Harden the F$%k Up!

Looking worse "on paper". How much did Shaun actually contribute in 2009?
Not much at all, and yet he was still never our worst player on the ground.

I love defeatist attitudes. There's always an answer to any problem. Port Adelaide will work it out.
More like the club already knows the problems but doesn't have the balls to fix them...

If players don't wan't to play for us, get rid of them.

You would think the club would trade for some mids. I don't see a problem with putting Davenport in the middle for longer and Broadbent etc they are going to be there they may as well start getting experience now, it's only going to help in the long run.
