Not playing/a chance for round 1 Feel?
lol he doesn't have a weak back, from a week back.

I was just teeing it up for Zakk.

If you're talking about Atley, I think there are others more likely for R1 spots, even if he was fit.

Drew though, is pretty likely.

It’ll be interesting to see how Lycett performs against Ryder, just to gauge how he’s going and vice versa I guess with Paddy coming off a pretty wretched season injury-wise.

It would be more interesting to see how they work together but we’ll have to wait until the JLT games for that unless they decide to team up against Frampton lol.

Sounds like you have got access to Arsene Wenger's whiteboard
hmmmmm haha.

All jokes aside. On the injury front, its most likely no Wines and Dixon for round 1 and probably the first month of the season. These are the only two that would be in our best 22 i would have thought.

Atley injury is unfortunate, however, i am told Drew has been good in the pre-season and is expected to have some impact this season. I hope for his sake he does otherwise, i imagine hes gone end of year.

With no Wines, Rockliff and SPP will be super important.

Re Dixon, i am not sure why, but i am not overly fussed that hes going to be missing. Part of me would like to see how Ryder/Marshall works with R Gray/Farrell/Rozee and a bit of the Hoff. I think Dixon is a good player to have, but we have relied on him far too heavily to perform.

Dixon a slow healer and no presesson....things that make you go hmmmm.
It had to have been a severe fracture of his leg for him to be so far back. I'm not surprised, especially that I've recently fractured and dislocated my ankle and the recovery time I'm looking at is massive. I'd assume Charlie's time frame would be similar.

Better off getting him right then rushing it. He's to important to us. Lucky we have recruited Lycett and aren't lacking tall options ala the last 5 years.

I would go but I’m not quite bourgeoisie enough to be able to fly to Adelaide for a practice match.

Hoping for a livestream or replay!

Surprised and happy to hear about the progress of Drew. Thanks Dr.

Don't claim to have inside info but 2m tall 100kg+ man mountain with 'iffy' ankles breaks leg down near ankle.
Not good however you look at it.

Patience grasshopper, besides it will give some-one else a decent go.

He copped an absolute shocker of an injury..a real nasty one. There's no rushing back from that. Probs a solid year needed for complete recovery..perhaps longer...

Dixons ankles and now legs are a real concern, big men who play this game and do a lot of jumping and landing are very susceptible imo. If there are any brains running this club they would not want to rest to much on this guys shoulders, they need to keep looking forward.

“(Best-ever Power AFL defence) is a nice feather in our cap,” notes Jonas. “But we did have a bit of trouble moving the ball out of the back 50 last year.

“So there has been a conscious effort — as you have heard a million times — to get 18 blokes to defend, not just the back six. This is to have us turn the ball from the opposition inside our attacking half that will lead to more scoring for us".

--------------------------

I wonder if the above quote signals a return to the forward-half pressing of 2017? It would be good for anyone who goes tomorrow to see how far up the ground each side is setting up behind the ball when its in attacking 50. Especially if its more of a Probables Team vs Possibles Team or the best forwards vs the best defenders.

At open training Ladhams shaded Lycett in the tapping dept. Small sample but Ladhams went alright.
Frampton aint a ruckman imo. Maybe an old style 'follower' ala a roaming Hoff.

Better ******* not. That didn't work either.

I'll say it once more - defending from the point of turnover and positionless football is the way of the future. That's what all the cool kids are doing.
